5 Great Ways to Get to Sleep

*Remunerated Post*

Sleep is one of those precious things which we all need and trying to get to sleep can be affected by a number of different factors. These include babies, stress, work, worries, the weather and insomnia. I believe I have experienced all of these in varying degrees!

With that in mind, I have a few things which I try to help me to sleep. Some I use every night and some I use on less regular basis.

Choose the right bed for you

I know that sounds pretty obvious but so many people suffer in silence. Over the years, my beds and their mattresses have given a varying amount of support. These days I am very happy with the one I have.

I think it is best to go to a specialist. For example, there are a variety of beds from Bed Guru which look like they would give the support and comfort for a good night’s sleep. Just as important, if not more, is your mattress. Make sure you choose an approved, high quality mattress with plenty of 5 star positive reviews.

Be Careful What You Eat and Drink

I think it goes without saying that you should not drink caffeine too near bedtime. Eating too close to when you are going to sleep isn’t great for you either. Experts generally recommend waiting at least three hours after you’ve eaten to go to bed. This allows your body time to digest your food.

However, does it also matter what you eat? I have heard it said that cheese causes nightmares. Is this a myth or is it fact. Take a look at the post ‘Should You Eat Cheese Before Bed?’ from the people at Simba to find out more!

Relaxing music

Ross and I regularly listen to Dan Gibson’s Solitudes collection. During my IVF treatment and my pregnancy, his albums ‘In the Midst of Angels’, ‘Angels Embrace’ and ‘Heart of Summer’ were all very important to me.

These days we tend to listen to Natural Sleep Inducement and Natural Stress Relief and both tend to do the trick! We’ve recently thought about the possibility of combining our listening sessions with a CBD product from somewhere like Organic CBD Nugs to really help us chill out and relax before bed, especially if we’re really struggling to sleep.

Read a book

I really haven’t read enough books this year and I certainly need to change that! I am pleased to say that I have read both the books Ross has written though. These are – Self Help: Life Lessons from the Bizarre Wrestling Career of Al Snow and Life Is Short & So Am I. Both of which were a great read. So much so, that some nights I couldn’t put them down, no matter how tired I got!

Wearable wellness technology

While the blue light from your mobile device is detrimental to a good night’s sleep, there are a few ways technology can help recharge your battery overnight.

Enter Hapbee: a wearable device that is designed to influence your moods using low-frequency magnetic field technology. With the Rest and Recover signal, the Hapbee headband promotes physical recovery by calming mental chatter, so you can drift off to sleep without distraction.

I hope some of these tips help you too!
