Hotter Shoes and Exeter Christmas Market

A couple of weeks ago, I was invited by Hotter Shoes to their store in Exeter to choose a pair of boots (Ross also chose a pair of shoes and I had a pair of slippers to decide on – more of that in future posts!). This was then followed by a stroll to the Exeter Christmas Market so I could test how comfortable they were whilst I was walking around, browsing.

Ross, Rex and I ventured in a very busy store in Exeter. Something I have to admit that I was very surprised – and pleased – to see on a Wednesday morning at the end of November.

Hotter Shoes, Exeter

I have always found the staff at Hotter supportive and friendly and this store was no different. It could be easy for me to say that, given the fact that we were invited to review but I did observe that this was not a ‘show’ for me as they were genuinely like it with the rest of the customers in the store.

The Exeter shop was well appointed. Ross made reference to the fact that, as a guy, he doesn’t like to be presented with an overwhelming amount of choices, so their men’s section had just the right amount to choose from.

Decisions, decisions!

Deciding on the boots is never an easy decision for me. I have had a couple of pairs from Hotter in the past and one pair in particular, the Adalyn Boots, remain my favourites to this day. I still can’t bear to chuck them out – especially as Hotter don’t make them anymore!

I narrowed it down to 3 pairs. The Belle, the Patch and the Marlow. They were all as comfortable as each other but, in the end, I went for the Belle as I knew that they would go with more of my clothes!

I also chose the amazing Snug slippers (for a later post) and Ross chose the Henley shoes (again for a later post) which had to be ordered as they didn’t have his size in store.

Exeter Christmas Market

Once we had made our selections, I left my Belle boots on my feet ready for a browse round the Exeter Christmas market just a short stroll away.

The Christmas market is situated in Exeter Cathedral’s grounds. Having never been before, I wasn’t sure what to expect but there were some beautiful stalls inside festive wooden huts all displaying some great – and innovative – Christmas gifts as well as food and decorations.

There were places to buy lunch (which I had to pass on, despite the wonderful smells!) as well as mulled wine.

Walking around in comfort makes Christmas shopping so much easier. Especially in boots which are not only easy on the feet but warm too.

Ross and I did make one purchase at the Exeter Christmas market. A few years back we paid a visit to the Royal Bath and West show where we had the chance to taste a lot of cheese! One of our favourites was Green Thunder, made by the Snowdonia Cheese Company. It contains garlic and herbs and is delicious. Anyway, they had a stall there so we made a firm decision to buy 3 different truckles. As well as Green Thunder, we bought Ginger Spice and Bouncing Berry. They are in the bottom of our fridge waiting for Christmas Day!

Final Thoughts

The Adalyn boots are still my favourites but the Belle boots are coming in at a very close second…for now. They may even overtake my favourites, especially now I have put some insoles inside to help with my tendon which is giving me an awful lot of problems at the moment.
