The Delimano Difference. A review of the Prima + Cooking Pot.

The Delimano Difference. A review of the Prima + Cooking Pot.

c2aeadcb63593d0afc063826cb1f5ee9Earlier this week I start a new healthy eating plan. Coincidentally, I was also asked to review a new Cooking Pot from the Delimano range of cookware.

Delimano is an Italian range of high-quality, ceramic-coated cookware which include saucepans, frying pans, pots, woks and roasting pans. They claim to give you healthier, tastier cooking. This is because of the Ceramica coating which means they offer safe, non-stick cooking. They are scratch-resistant, durable, hard-wearing and easy to clean – all things I have put to the test. The other thing I was interested to see is that the range is free from PFOA.

What is PFOA? Well, I have looked into this and apparently it is a chemical called Perfluorooctanoic acid (also called C8). It is a synthetic chemical compound used in the manufacture of many consumer products including Teflon and Gore-Tex.

I am not going to go into great big detail but what I have read about PFOA here and here is rather concerning. Studies showed that there is a connection between PFOA exposure for the people working with the chemical and diseases such as kidney cancer, testicular cancer, ulcerative colitis, thyroid disease, hypercholesterolemia, and pregnancy-induced hypertension.

Delimano make their cookware range with Ceramica. They explain as follows:

The Ceramic coating breakthrough

Ceramic non-stick coatings are a major breakthrough in cookware and rapidly changing how we cook. Delimano Ceramica® is a special coating based on nanotechnology that creates a dense and compact shell. Always smooth and non-porous, it is a great PTFE-free alternative to Teflon, based on sol-gel-technology. With special “Easy to Clean” properties, it is a natural material and asa result comes with a lesser environmental impact and allows for healthier cooking.

All the pots and pans in the line are made with the finest quality materials: a forged aluminium base with porcelain enamel exterior coating, with eco friendly and long-lasting Greblon Ceramica interior coating (a registered trademark by Weilburger); ergonomically designed soft-touch handles with thermo sensor and sturdy Pyrex glass lids with handy spoon-rest handles.

Anyway, back to the cook pot! I absolutely and utterly love it. I am not just saying that either. I have not had to add any oil to it when cooking. Nothing sticks to it. So far I have used it for mince and chicken – the main food staples in this house – and it has been wonderful. The ceramic coating of the pot is so very smooth and durable.  It is big and sturdy and you can use it at high temperatures whether it be on gas or electric surfaces.

As for washing up – easiest job EVER! Whether I wash it up in the sink or in the dishwasher, there has been no residue left at all.

It’s specifications are:

– Volume: 7.65L
– Lid available separately
– Heat resistant up to 450ºC
– Ecological Coating
– Base material: Aluminium
– Coating: Greblon Ceramica®
– PFOA & PTFE-free
– 100% Italian-made
– 5 year warranty

Whether it is for large family meals or everyday cooking, this is one pot that I am going to be using for a very long time to come.

You can find the Delimano range on their website, on Facebook and Twitter.

Disclaimer: I was sent the cook pot in return for this review, however all opinions are my own and have not been influenced in any way.
