So, last weekend I finally sat down to catch up with all that had been happening in the world whilst I had been filling myself with all that the festive season can offer. I obviously wanted to know what was going on with Team Honk and the proposed relay course for Sports Relief. However, when I went off to have a look I suddenly realised that Somerset was in play in just over a week’s time! Panic!!
I calmed myself down, joined the Facebook group and set my wheels, legs, stilts, whatever, in motion and starting to come up with a game plan. It looked rather barren and I had images of a tumble weed rolling across the planes of our cheese and cider county!
Thankfully Jenny Paulin from Mummy Mishaps and Nik from Through Niks Lens together with some help from Sonya from The Ramblings of a Formerly Rock and Roll Mum have come up with a plan with me.
On Monday 13th January I shall be travelling by car…but not just any car….our Audi A3 Convertible converted into a horsey look with jumps, red ribbons, posters and two inflatable horses strapped into the back seat! (at this point I best say that I ruddy hope that the weather sorts it’s life out!) together with me, dressed like this NB: the picture is just for explanation purposes and that man has nothing whatsoever to do with me!
I shall be wearing a onesie underneath as well – for both stupidity and warmth purposes!!
I will be setting off from Crewkerne on Monday 13th January to meet Jenny over in Wellington, Somerset at around 10.30am as the Cornwall Team end their stint. We shall be doing the rounds in either Wellington or Taunton and then I shall move on to Bridgwater where I will meet Nik who is carrying out the Challenge Twelve for 2014. She will then take responsibility for the baton around this part of Somerset before her hubby then returns it to me that evening ready for an early start the following day.
On Tuesday 14th January I will be donning my horse once again starting with the school run to take Grace to St Bartholomews in Crewkerne. Once I have thoroughly embarrassed my daughter – we will likely have the local press there – I shall then set off for the streets of Yeovil where I will be galloping around trying to encourage people to put their hands in their pockets!
When I have made a complete and utter fool of myself, meaning that I would be unable to step foot on Yeovil territory ever again in the same way, I shall be travelling to the wilds of Dorset and Dorchester where I shall meet Sonya and once again gallop around! Aiming to be with her for 1.00pm we will meet at Maumbury Rings and move into the town centre to try and collar more donations!
In amongst all this, the other thing that I would like you all to take into account is that I shall be suffering as my ear drums are polluted with some of the worst music known to man as I travel the countryside…the likes of Black Lace, Russ Abbott and Benny Hill’s Ernie will likely make an appearance….so isn’t that in itself enough to make you put your hands in your pockets?!
To find more about Team Honk and the amazing work they did for Comic Relief last year and what masterplan they have cooked up for Sports Relief this year then please, please take a look at their site and keep an eye out for how you can donate. I also wrote about Comic Relief last year sharing my top tunes and also receiving Postcards from Ghana (two in fact) courtesy of Team Honk themselves.
