Review: Family Fun Time with Ricky Zoom

Rex has just started to really take off with his imaginary play. It is something that Grace always loved – and it is great to see her younger brother coming along in the same way. There are so many great kids shows on TV but one that has made a big impact in our house is Ricky Zoom.
If you haven’t heard of Ricky Zoom, it is a movie-style animated show created by Pixar software which makes it so watchable! The characters are all bikes and joining Ricky, a bright red rescue bike, are his group of friends together with his family; dad, Hank, mum, Helen and little sister, Toot. The show is something the whole family can enjoy and I have to admit leaving it on, even when Rex is out of the room!
The episodes all have valuable messages about teamwork, friendship and problem-solving which means that, as a family, we can learn together as we play with the great Ricky Zoom toys we were lucky to receive.
Ricky Zoom’s House Playset
Ricky Zoom lives in a place called Wheelford and his house is now available in toy form as this fantastic Ricky Zoom’s House Playset (RRP £39.99 available from The Entertainer). It is action-packed and features plenty of fun to spark creative play – which is right up Rex’s street!
There are multiple ramps for the toy motorcycles to roll down, a tyre check station, and an elevator to get from floor to floor. But the fun doesn’t stop there! Ricky’s home is also the Wheelford Rescue Headquarters and up top is the rotating lookout platform.
One floor down, the fold-away Gear-up Rescue Station gives these toy bikes a handy place to store the included accessories and get ready for action. There’s even a telescope to let kids scan around to find out who’s in need of a rescue! With all this and lots more to discover, there’s no limit to the adventures Ricky and his Bike Buddies can have. The playset includes its own exclusive Ricky Zoom motor bike together with side panier and rocket backpack.
Ricky Zoom Family Pack
The Ricky Zoom Family Pack (RRP £22.99 available from The Entertainer) includes Ricky Zoom, sister Toot, Mom Helen and Dad Hank. The whole family of rescue bikes comes together in the pack and they’re ready to rev up imaginative play.
With their expertly designed tyres, they have no problem standing steady when stopped, and their front wheels feature articulated movements that let them steer left and right where you point them. Featuring designs you won’t find in other multi-packs.
Family Playtime
I have found it quite tricky with there being a 10 year age gap between Grace and Rex. Most siblings are closer in age and tend to amuse each other. In our situation, at least one of us needs to get down to Rex’s level in order to play together – so, if we are going to do this, then it needs to be fun, right?!
Thankfully, this fantastic playset and family pack are all something that each member of the family is happy to play with. Either me, Grace or Ross are happy to get down and play with Rex with this playhouse. Even Grace, aged 13, isn’t adverse to a little bit of imaginary play still and has had hours of fun sitting with Rex and pretending to rescue people. When other toys have been in peril, it is Ricky and his family to the rescue!
Supporting Barnados
One of the things we are well aware of this Christmas is that there are many families who are far less fortunate than us. So, it is really lovely to see that Ricky Zoom is supporting Barnados in their Kidmas Toddle with Ricky Zoom. There is nothing more incredible than children helping to support other children who need their help. All the Ricky Zoom toys are now out every day and are set to become one of the most well-loved toys in the cupboard – and not just from Rex’s point of view!
Don’t forget that you can watch Ricky Zoom every weekday at 7.40 am on Milkshake!
