I’m sure many of us remember the rigmarole of getting your hands on your photos back in the 80s and 90s. I remember the process well – aim, snap and hope that you didn’t waste one of the 24 shots you had in your roll of film. Wind the camera on, rinse, repeat (without *actually* rinsing, I should point out in case any younger readers don’t remember old school photography!) When the film was complete, take it out, drop it at your local photo developers and give them a few days to do their thing. By the end of the week, if you were lucky, you’d be able to flick through your 24 shots in glorious glossy 6×4″ and realise that, yes, several of them were out of focus or didn’t capture what you were intending.

Fast forward to the modern day and, through the power of mobile devices and massive amounts of data storage, millennials don’t have to worry about quantity limits or missing anything – point, press, press, press, press and then press some more. 50 shots later, choose your favourite one and there you go! Store seemingly thousands of photos on your phone (often forgetting to delete the unwanted ones – and I’m as guilty as anybody on that front!) and you’re good to go.

But what about those extra special shots? The ones you don’t want to dig through the deep recesses of your mobile to access? Maybe the ones you want to put in a photo album for your parents or as a keepsake for your kids as they grow up? What about something hard copy to go on your mirror, in your car, on your desk at work, on the mantelpiece? And how about pics for your kids to put up in, on and around their lockers at school? Printing pictures has become increasingly rare over the last decade but that is all set to change with the introduction of the Printicular app, available FREE on Android (including Samsung phones), iPhone and iPad.

The app, which was recently launched in partnership with Timpson Group, enables you to use your mobile device to quickly and easily order prints of your favourite pictures and then collect them same-day – and usually within a single hour – from any one of hundreds of Max Spielmann stores, found on High Streets nationwide and in larger Tesco stores. Prints sizes can be ordered from 6×4″ to 12×8″.

It’s definitely worth mentioning this app to your elder kids as it appears to be striking a definite chord with millennials. Bruce Seymour, Printicular’s Director, observed that print orders are increasing hugely in the 14 – 24 age group, saying that “photos are showing up on refrigerators, mirrors and lockers like it’s 1985”!
