#NewThings Challenge – Try a New Food and a Recipe for Beef and Guiness Stew
Due to my holiday, I am a little bit behind with my #NewThings challenge but the lovely people at CSMA were very understanding and have let me extend the deadline a little so last week’s and this week’s challenges are going to be rather close together!
One of the things that I have never tried is Guiness. Yep, I know you would have thought that by my age I would have at least had a little nip but no. Anyway, I decided this week we decided to have a bit of an Irish themed evening and use Guiness in a recipe seeing as we had a bottle floating around (better than Ross drinking it all to himself!). That way, not only would I get to give it a try but so would Grace – in a sensible fashion rather than from the bottle!
We are currently following Sian’s Plan, a great healthy eating recipe finder which you can find more about here. The Beef and Guiness recipe if one from her site.
[yumprint-recipe id=’8′]I have to say that the whole family really enjoyed this gorgeous stew. The Guiness produces a very distinct flavour in the rich, dark sauce. I can see this one becoming one of our winter favourites.

Have you tried a new food recently? CSMA Club has plenty of ideas for free attractions and places to visit around the country on the Time Out section of its Smart Spending hub (there are also some ideas in their Ten Cheap Things To Do with The Kids article).
Disclaimer: This is our entry for week two into the CSMA Club #NewThings Challenge
