Low Calorie Cocktail Recipes
*Remunerated Post*

Whether enjoyed on the patio, poolside or at a bar, we all appreciate a good cocktail. From fruity and fizzy to sharp and icy, cocktails offer a huge variety of flavour experiences, and there is bound to be something to please everyone. But what about low calorie cocktail recipes?
Something you might not consider is how many calories these delicious drinks are packing. Did you know a mixed drink is typically between 200 and 600 calories? This means you could be consuming more calories in one drink than you would normally eat in a meal!
Luckily, there are a number of cocktails that can still offer great flavour without destroying your diet! Here are some of my favourite low-calorie cocktail recipes.
Table of Contents
Lime Margarita

The amount of sugar used in a typical margarita causes it to be at least 400 calories a glass. By ditching the standard margarita mix and creating your own, you can turn this drink into a low-calorie sip, at only 93 calories.
You will need:
- 120ml fresh lime juice
- 60ml tequila
- 60ml orange juice
- 1 tsp sweetener
- Cup of ice
- Crush the ice – it is easiest to do this in a blender, but if you don’t have one, then you can pop ice cubes in a big freezer bag and crush it with a rolling pin.
- In a cocktail shaker, add in the lime juice, tequila, orange juice and sweetener.
- Add the crushed ice to a glass and pour the cocktail mix over the top. Give it a good stir together, serve and enjoy!
Mint Mojito

While you may think that this ice-packed sip would be naturally fairly low in calories, the addition of sugar syrup to sweeten the sip adds to the calorie count. While this recipe uses sweetener syrup instead of sugar, you can make the drink even healthier by swapping out the syrup for extra mint and a splash more soda water, so it remains flavourful! This recipe for one serving is 93 calories.
You will need:
- 40ml white rum
- 50ml soda water
- 25ml lime juice
- 15ml sweetener syrup
- 8-10 mint leaves
- Crushed ice
- Muddle the mint in the bottom of a glass.
- Pour over the rum, lime juice and sweetener.
- Fill half of the glass with crushed ice and mix together with a long spoon.
- Fill the remainder of the glass with ice and top with soda.
Moscow Mule

Swapping ginger beer for diet ginger ale and fresh ginger makes this skinny cocktail just as punchy as the original. Coming in at 120 calories, this deliciously refreshing sip is the perfect summertime drink.
You will need:
For the ginger syrup:
- 230ml water
- 15g fresh ginger, peeled and thinly sliced
- 55g granulated sugar substitute
For the drink:
- 60ml vodka
- 15ml lime juice
- 15ml ginger syrup
- 115ml diet ginger ale
- First make the ginger syrup by adding water, ginger and sweetener to a small pan and bringing to the boil. Once boiling, reduce heat and leave to simmer for 10 minutes.
- Turn off the heat and leave the mixture to cool for an hour before straining it into a clean jar. You’ll only use 15ml of syrup per drink, so you can store the rest of the syrup to make more Moscow Mule’s for up to two weeks!
- In a glass, pour in the vodka, lime juice, 15ml of ginger syrup and the ginger ale. Mix together well. Pop in some ice cubes to keep the drink cool, serve and enjoy!
Old Fashioned

Many whisky cocktails make use of a lot of sugar to help balance out the smokier notes of the alcohol. But if you’re a fan of whiskies, you should embrace the flavour rather than try to hide it behind extra sugar. The Old Fashioned needs a little hint of sweet to balance out the bitters, but this can be replaced with sweetener for the same effect, but fewer calories!
You will need:
- 50ml Scotch whisky
- 10ml sweetener syrup
- 10ml Angostura bitters
- Ice cubes
- Add three ice cubes to a glass and stir in the whisky.
- Add the syrup and bitters and stir.
- For a classic Old Fashioned, garnish with some orange peel and serve.
