We have a huge love of wooden toys in this house and, in particular, wooden train sets. This was only really discovered recently because Hape kindly sent us a couple of wooden train toys for Rex to get to grips with.
The toys arrived just as we found out that Rex had suspected chicken pox (it later turned out to be shingles) so, because we were confined at home, these were extremely welcomed!

About Hape Wooden Toys
Hape is one of the largest producer of wooden toys for infants and toddlers. They have a full line of bamboo toys which is a natural ingredient as well as a highly renewable material. Any plastic parts they use, they ensure are durable to withstand years of play to help pass the toys down through the generations and prevent waste.
The Rainbow Puzzle Wooden Train Set
I think that this has to be one of my most favourite toys that either of my children has had. This beautiful train set is bright, colourful and very clever. It has a bit of something for everyone.
The train and it’s 3 carriages fit together magnetically, making it easy for any age child to put together. The carriages have a little ledge where one of the 3 wooden animals sit. These include a lion, tiger and elephant.
The track has 8 normal pieces with 4 different play sections. The first is a bead maze, then there is the tambourine track – which sounds like the noise a proper train on tracks might make, the problem solving puzzle track and the xylophone which Rex things is very funny.
To finish off the train set, there are different shaped bricks which make up a station together with 2 wooden trees.

The Take-a-Look Train
The Hape Take-A-Look Train compliments the Rainbow Puzzle train set nicely. Each part of the carriages offer a different illusion which includes a mirror to reflect, a magnifier to enlarge and a prism which bends and retracts. Rex loves to look through them to see how the different carriages of the train change the way he can see around him.
These carriages are also magnetic so they are a great addition to any Hape train set.
