I think shopping for Christmas gifts for 4-7 year olds has to be one of the trickiest areas. I have a number of young nieces and nephews and am always looking for ways to make their faces light up on Christmas morning.

When I was introduced to this concept, I thought it was a wonderful idea and it is no wonder that One Dear World, a London-based family startup, won the FSB award as the Family Business of the Year back in March. Founded by Winnie, who originates from Hong Kong, together with her husband Rafael, who is half French, half Greek, Winnie was inspired to start the company during maternity leave when she couldn’t find a black rag doll for her son.
They have designed and produced a collection of multicultural dolls and have published a children’s storybook on London’s cultural diversity titled “London Hat Hunting Mission”. This storybook allows children of different cultural backgrounds to be represented and provides a good tool for parents and early years educators to introduce diversity to children. I shall be gifting Hearty Hope to my niece and I have a feeling that Father Christmas will be delivering Joyful Jun to this house.

I have to admit that, if I were 40 years younger, this would definitely be on my Christmas list! Inside there is plenty of space for the cats to enjoy a meal or have a quick cat-nap on the pull down bed.
