A Better, Brighter Me. My Diet and Fitness Plan. Week 5.
Week 5 of my diet and fitness plan and, I don’t know why, but I felt a little deflated this week.

My Diet.
This is now my third week on The New You Plan. It is a total food replacement diet which puts you into ketosis in order to help you lose weight. I was sent a 4 week review but, I am so happy with the results that I am seeing, that I have extended it by purchasing another 3 weeks. There was a special offer on their site so how could I resist? The diet is based on 4 packets a day, 4 litres of water a day and 2 or 3 snacks a week – all ketosis-friendly. On top of that you are allowed up to 250mls of skimmed milk per day and green or peppermint tea but NO fruit as they would take you out of ketosis. They also have a really comprehensive refeed programme so that you don’t put back on all the weight you have lost.
As the week progressed I found myself struggling a little. What with missing out on pancake day, a KFC and Ross’ spaghetti bolognese – and the fact that I am less than halfway through the plan now – I have to admit to struggling yesterday. As we drove back with the KFC, this may sound a bit odd, but I sniffed in the fumes trying to sort of taste it! BUT what I did make were some lovely ‘cakes’ or noms noms as they are know on the diet. I used a pack of oatmeal and a pack of chocolate shake to make the cakes chocolately with a lovely icing on top.
I am kind of missing ‘normal’ food now to be honest. I have therefore decided to allow myself a little blip on Mothers Day – which gives me something to look forward to. A ‘blip’ in our Secret Slimmers Group means eating some normal food. This will likely be some meat and a bit of veg. I am also really enjoying the chocolate orange beanies coffee – it is definitely my favourite.
My Exercise
The squats continue but I really missed the walks to school last week. I think that this contributed to my deflation if I am honest. I did still get to the gym for Fitness Pilates and Piloxing and, encouraged by the other ladies, I am hoping to start Spinning after I have finished my photography course in two weeks. I did get some extra exercise over the weekend thanks to Michael Jackson! Grace and I picked up a secondhand copy of his version of Just Dance for the Wii and we had a great time with the routines to Thriller and Beat it! I will definitely be using this regularly.

I also did some comparisons using my Epson Pulsense for my heart rate for housework versus exercise. I found that whilst changing the bed increased my heart rate to 102bpm, the exercise bike increased it to 128bpm and walking down to town and back (which we did on Saturday) increased it to 131bpm. Finally, the best exercise I am getting appears to be the Piloxing which increases it to 148bpm.
General Wellbeing
Despite the fact that I have felt deflated, on the very positive side I am feeling far fitter. The exercise is getting easier, my clothes are feeling loser and I am finding myself able to actually do things again. Ross was so happy to see me dancing with Grace over the weekend – but not as happy as I felt.
Weigh-in
So, how am I doing after the third week on the New You Plan?
Weight at the beginning of my diet: 187lbs
Weight last Monday: 173.0lbs
Weight this Monday: 171.0lbs
Loss for the week: 2.0lbs
Total Loss so far: 16lbs
Starting BMI: 27.2
Current BMI: 25.3
That is a fabulous 8.6lbs in 3 weeks on the New You Plan! I am so very close to that big milestone of being within a healthy BMI and under 170lbs and I am really hoping that this will be next week. Plus, I am almost halfway to my target weight.

Disclosure: I was sent the the Epson Pulsense and 4 weeks of the New You Plan together with 2 months membership at 1610 gym for review as part of my health and fitness plan, however all words and opinions expressed are my own and have not been influenced in any way.

Very well done! Those nom noms look amazing, do you have the recipe?? xxx
I had a deflated week this week so totally understand. Well done for resisting the KFC! Your stats are amazing, I can’t wait to see this week’s
Your attitude is very inspiring, you have been doing so well this year, fingers crossed you get under that pesky BMI next week #weightlosswednesday
Well done lovely! You are doing brilliantly #Weightlosswednesday
Keep at it and well done on not eating the KFC
That is an amazing weight loss so far on the New You plan! Glad you are still enjoying it – always a good sign when you buy more to keep going on with the diet! So, so close to your milestone, you will be there soon!! Sim #weightlosswednesday xx
I managed to avoid pancakes too. I don’t think I could do this diet though, being diabetic, it may be to restrictive. You are blowing me away with your weight loss, you must be feeling amazing xx
I’m not being as disciplined as you (although I really should!) but as I’ve given up chocolate for Lent I can empathise with the feeling of “missing out”. Andrew had some Yorkie Buttons on Saturday night and then on Sunday he and Gwenn had some chocolate trifle, neither of which I could touch! Well done on getting your BMI down. I’m now classed as overweight rather than obese, but only just! Want to get it right down. x

Well done for staying strong with pancakes and kfc….. that’s strong will power.
Enjoy your “blip” for mother day, and good luck on your journey!
