A Review of Sea Life Adventure Park Weymouth

One of our favourite memories from more recent years is a visit to Sea Life Adventure Park Weymouth so, when we able to go back for another opportunity to look around just before Christmas, we were all very excited. Not least a five-year-old Rex who often recounts his trip there from back in 2021.

I have to admit that I wasn’t aware that the Aquarium was even open to the public at Christmas – and, when visiting, we had the added bonus of meeting an Octonaut!

Where is Sea Life Adventure Park Weymouth situated?

The Aquarium is in a really convenient part of Weymouth. Away from the hustle and bustle of the promenade and arcades, yet still near the beach. There is ample parking right outside and access to the entrance is via a level pathway. It is also next to a host of other attractions as well as a Premier Inn and Brewers Fayre, so perfect if you want to make a complete day of it!

What can you expect?

You can expect a wonderful family day out. There is plenty to see and do and the park is not only well laid out but there is plenty of room to run around too!

The park is laid out in Aquarium Zones which include: Harbourside (featuring the octopus which Rex often talks about!), Shipwreck (find Nemo there!), the Rockpool (prepare to get wet!) and our particular favourites – Night and Day Ocean experience with ocean tunnel display, Humboldt Penguin Beach (due to the risk of aviation influenza, access is restricted to these enclosures) and Seal Harbour (although, the seals were on holiday whilst we were there as their enclosure is being updated).

There is also plenty of Play Zones to keep the kids (both big and small!) busy including the Carribean Cove Adventure, a Sensory Garden and for those hot summer days there is the Castaway Bay Splash Zone and Pool – so don’t forget your cossie!

Our experience at Sea Life Weymouth

As soon as we arrived we felt very welcomed by Rob at the entrance to the park. We then had the obligatory fun photos taken and given a ticket to view those a bit later on in the day at the kiosk centrally located in the park.

Having visited previously, Rex knew exactly what he wanted to see! So, we started at the Rockpool and worked our way around. We also had a special Christmas mission in the form of a family orientated scavenger hunt which meant we had some puzzles and conundrums to solve as we made our way around the park.

Next up was the Harbourside and our return visit to see the Octopus then it was on to the Coral Reef, Penguin Beach and the Day and Night Experience.

As it is so near to where Ross’ parents live, they were able to join us for the day – and see the excitement on Rex’s face on our way around. One of the things we are really looking forward to in the coming years is to return to the park and continue to read all the information, facts and figures about each of the sea creatures who live there.

Meeting an Octonaut

One of the highlights of our visit was meeting Peso the Penguin from the CBeebies show, The Octonauts. He was situated in his own cabin with allocated time slots for families to go in, say hello, have a photograph and collect a small Christmas gift (Rex was lucky enough to get a pot of Playdoh AND a sweet!).

On top of meeting up with Peso and the scavenger hunt (with prize at the end!), there was an Octonaut-themed craft activities available in the restaurant area.
