Too Haul for School with WH Smith #Ad
*We received compensation for this post*
I used to hate the back to school campaigns when I was a kid. That feeling of dread as the return to a new educational year beckoned. However, there was always one thing I looked forward to every summer. That was a visit to WH Smith for brand new stationery.

Back to school..and work
Thankfully, the school fear has disappeared for me and, I am pleased to say, that Grace does not suffer with the feeling. She admitted to me the day before yesterday that she was really looking forward to it. So, when I told her that we could pay a visit to WH Smith for new stationery, I was greeted with a huge grin and a shout of ‘YES!’.
Not only is it a return to school for Grace, however. It is also the start of a brand new job for me. I am becoming a Consultant for Slimming World and it is definitely a position which calls for lots of stationery. So, I decided to join Grace in the choices.

WH Smith Stationery
Our local branch of WH Smith is based in Yeovil – around a 25 minute drive from us. When we arrived I was surprised at the amount of special offers there were.
Not only are they displaying items of stationery in their 3 for 2 campaign but there are also plenty of reduced products, many of them better than half price.
Below is a list of the items we chose.
Black Canvas Square Lunch Bag – RRP £7.99 reduced to £3.99

One of the things that Grace had on her list was a new lunch box and when she saw this black canvas lunch bag as soon as we walked into the store, she was sold!
Grace is a pretty thoughtful young lady when it comes to spending money. She can be frugal. I asked why she didn’t want one of the more colourful bags on offer, she told me that she would be able to personalise this one herself.
Everyday Tape – RRP £2.49

Sticky tape is always useful to have in a drawer! This will be used for a number of reasons including school projects for Grace and work-related sticking for me! Very reasonably priced too for a pack of two rolls which we can share.
3 Handwriting pens – RRP £3.99

Grace has been using handwriting pens for quite a while now. I can remember her getting permission to start using a pen in her first school!
These pens have a fine tip and are ideal for children learning to write.
3 Chalk Markers – £4.99

These pens are perfect for decorating different types of materials including glass, plastic and metal as well as chalk boards.
These will be useful for a number of projects for both Grace and I and, because there are 3, we won’t argue about using them!
Fluorescent stars – RRP £2.49

Great for school projects and eye-catching visuals for me at work!
A5 Subject Dividers – RRP £2.49
I have a box of a range of certificates for my new job. They are in an A5 box and I need to be able to find them quickly so these are perfect!
Fluorescent Flashes – RRP £2.89

These work very well with the stars (see above!).
Milan Capsule Sharpener and Eraser – RRP £2.49

Grace chose this one in a sunset colour and I have to say that it is at times like this I wish I was still at school and feeling excited about nifty things like this!
It has a soft touch feel and you flip one end to reveal two different sized sharpeners. Then, hidden under the cap at the other end is a soft eraser, suitable for a wide range of pencils. Finally, pull off the lid to empty any sharpenings.
5 Assorted Hand Lettering Set – RRP £7.99 reduced to £4.99

Grace has carried around her sketch pad for the whole summer. She is doing some fantastic drawings but wanted to get some lettering pens to go with her designs. This pack is perfect.
It comes with a 3H pencil, 2 blendable dual tip brush pens (broad and fine), 2mm chisel tip pen and 1mm bullet tip pen. They are suitable for writing, sketching and drawing on various different surfaces. They are suitable for all abilities and are non bleed.
Multi-purpose White Tack – £1.49

Grace has had a small obsession with both blue and white tack since she was very small. She makes some fantastic little models with it! Aside from that we will both be using it for projects and displays.
15 Ballpoint Pens – £3.99

These disposable black ballpoint pens are perfect at home, the office or school.
Maped 30cm Folding Ruler – RRP £2.49 reduced to £1.99

This Maped ruler is extremely useful. It folds in half and opens up to measure 30cm long – which is perfect for storing in your pencil case. Available in 2 assorted designs, pink and blue
Judith Kerr Books ‘The Tiger Who Came to Tea’ and Mog The Forgetful Cat’ – RRP £12.99 reduced to £5

Finally, we had to treat Rex to something seeing as he was so good for the majority of the time we were in the shop. So, because he has a huge love of books, we chose this double pack for less than half price!
Rex has a puzzle of ‘The Tiger Who Came to Tea’ and I used to read it to her all the time when she was very small so it was wonderful to have all the memories come flooding back when I read it to him at bedtime.
