Christmas Gifts for 0-3 Year Olds
Finding presents for young children is always important for me and even more so now I have Rex to think about. I also have a number of young nieces and nephews to cater for. I think it is important to find something educational yet fun. Either that, or useful!
Thankfully, some wonderful companies have come to my rescue. Here is a list of some great gifts you might like to consider if you are looking for Christmas gifts for 0-3 year olds this year.

One of Rex’s absolute favourites is the book ‘Dear Zoo’ so when I saw these, I knew that they would be perfect for him – especially as he loves putting things together and taking them apart. This will feel familiar to him as the pictures from the book are now so well known.
Milly & Flynn In the Night Garden Double Sided Magnetic Play Set RRP £14
In the Night Garden first made an appearance when Grace was small. I was pleased to see that it is still going strong after I had Rex. His favourite is Makka Pakka who claps his hands (one of Rex’s favourite things). He will certainly have hours of fun with this!
Happy Nappy Wetsuit and Matching Poncho Towel from Splash About – RRP £25.99 and £16.99
Young babies feel the cold much quicker, even in warm pools because they are not moving about as much in the water so this is the perfect gift for any little swimmer. Splash About’s Happy Nappy Wetsuit has been designed in collaboration with swim schools and teachers to maintain a baby’s core body temperature, keeping them warmer and therefore happier in the water. You can also purchase a machine washable Nappy Wrap and liners that are worn underneath the Happy Nappy for extra protection. I love this Noah’s Ark design.

The Ruby Red Shoes series features a series of 3 books and is beautifully illustrated. The type of book to treasure for years to come. In the series there is Ruby Red Shoes Goes To London, where you can follow Ruby as she spends Christmas in the city, exploring all the sights from Buckingham Palace to Fortnum and Mason. There are also two further titles – Ruby Red Shoes A Very Aware Hare and Ruby Red Shoes Goes to Paris. As well as the books, you can also purchase a beautiful 5 piece cutlery set consisting of a bowl, spoon, plate, fork and mug which are all dishwasher safe. These are made by Ashdene and the set depicts scenes from the first book, A Very Aware Hare.
Room to Grow Toy Storage and Bedside Pocket Organiser RRP from £20
Whilst this is more of a gift for the parents, this practical Toy Basket will last your little one for a while. I think it is perfect for the bedroom to help organise toys and other items. It is made from 100% cotton and comes with two sturdy handles, which makes it so easy to carry around. I love the Blue Star design – and you can also get the Bedside Pocket Organiser to match. This will be extremely useful as Rex gets bigger. You attach it to the bed with either velcro strips or you can slide them under the mattress. A great place for books and a bedtime sip of water.
Zoom! Beep! Vroom! Busy Cities Book RRP £7.99
Zoom! Beep! Vroom! Busy Cities, illustrated by Josh Cleland is full of great cities and their sounds. Buses and taxis honking their horns in London whilst a bullet train zooms along in Hong Kong. As you read, little ones can enjoy the noises that this book has to offer in some of the best cities including San Francisco, New York, Vancouver and much more. The vehicles include fire engines, diggers, motorcycles and boats.
Mini Club Fearne Hoodie from Boots RRP £14
I love finding eye-catching clothes for Rex to wear and one of the ranges which continue to catch my eye are the ones from Boots Mini Club. At the moment I particularly love the Fearne by Fearne Cotton range. With the fact that we both have a son with the same name, how could I not?! This gorgeous, super soft hoodie has embroidery and badge detail and will come in very handy over the winter months.
Novelty LED Pink/Orange Owl Ceiling Pendant Light from The Lighting Superstore RRP £22.62
A novelty light would be a great idea for any children’s room. First on my list is this gorgeous children’s ceiling light which suspends from the ceiling by a circular ceiling plate. This then connects to a length of black braided cable. The cute owl design is manufactured from polycarbonate making it light and easy to hand. The height is easy to adjust once installed and it requires 1 x 10 watt max E14 LED bulb (not supplied).
Viki 1 Childrens Car Light from The Lighting Superstore RRP £56.16
As soon as I saw this, I knew it would be perfect for Rex’s room. He would love the car decorations which are on the end of the rods which splay out from a central white satinated glass shade. The best thing is that the headlights on the cars act as a night light and shine for 15 to 20 minutes after light has been switched off! Requires 1 x 60watt maximum E27 ES bulb (not supplied). It can be used as a ceiling or wall light.
Fun Bricks RRP £15.91
I loved these bricks when I was a kid and I am so excited to see Rex playing with them too. With the fact that he loves to post things, see how they work and fit things together, I have a feeling that this is one gift which will be perfect for him. They are pliable, tactile and durable and this bumper set with 100 pieces will keep him amused for ages!
Portmeirion Very Hungry Caterpillar Range RRP from £8.30
This gorgeous ABC mat is just one part of the beautiful range of Very Hungry Caterpillar items available from Portmeirion. This book has been a staple in our family since I was small and I am pleased to say that the tradition has continued as Rex loves it too.
Chicco Sam The Mole Pop Up Toy RRP £19.99 from Kiddies Kingdom
I absolutely love this bilingual educational activity centre and I have no doubt that Rex will love it too. Children can learn their shapes, animal names, colours and so much more with fun surprise effects and with the added bonus of learning French as well as English. There are a number of activities like electronic puzzle games, shape sorting and over 30 songs and words in both languages. Suitable from 10-36 months.
Tiny Love Musical Stack & Ball Game-Elephant RRP £29.99 from Kiddies Kingdom
Our newest nephew would love this fabulous toy which will grow with him. From 6-9 months the baby can interact with the balls, shaking them to hear a fun rattling sound. At 9-12 months, once your baby has learned to sit up, they can have fun dropping the balls through the large opening (in the elephants’s body) into the base. From 12-18 months your little one will be ready for the more advanced narrow ball game option. You can take off the elephants head and let your baby develop their fine motor skills by dropping the balls through the narrow opening and enjoying the fun musical feedback.
