Losing Weight with Slimming World Week 6

I am starting to really get into my groove now with the Slimming World plan. Last week there were a few challenges including Halloween, a lunch out and friends over for the weekend. But, once again, I managed to stay on plan.

Last week I decided to challenge myself to go for another 3.5lbs and get that first stone off. Here is how I did.

The Slimming World food I ate

Here are some of the highlights from what I ate last week.

  • Breakfast – I stuck mainly with fruit last week. There were a couple of days with porridge and one with scrambled egg, bacon and beans.
  • Lunch – once again, it was mainly jacket potato, beans on toast or an omelette. There was an added challenge last Friday when we met up with Ross’ parents for lunch. I checked the menu beforehand and found a couple of things that I could eat. I chose the Butternut Squash and Grilled Pepper Salad with Giant Mediterranean Cous Cous. It was delicious!
  • Dinner – I feel that we made a few great discoveries on the dinner front last week. This included chicken dopiaza – which I made at the beginning of the week and then, a big pot for when our friends arrived on the Friday night. I also had Slimming World burgers with homemade chips on Halloween night. Plus, a piece of Slimming World Spiced Pumpkin Cake which I had made with the insides of the pumpkin we had scrapped out (thanks to Pinch of Nom).

I am checking the App on my phone for syns much more regularly now. In Waitrose I found a tiny pudding which was dairy and gluten-free and thought it might be a good option – when I checked it was 12 syns which I found ridiculous! Also, my kitchen scales are getting put to VERY good use!

Favourite Discoveries of the Week

The fact that I could eat out and find food which I could eat was definitely my favourite discovery…closely followed by that Chicken Dopiaza (you can find the recipe over on the Slimming World site if you are a member).

How I felt

There were a couple of days where I felt like caving but I have to say that the thought of a good weightloss just spurred me on to keep going.

It was half term last week and there were a couple of times where I went out with Grace. We stopped off at the Waitrose cafe on two occasions. Once after swimming and the other time when we walked into town. Whilst both the kids had cakes and biscuits, I didn’t and treated myself to a Salted Caramel Latte. This is the only syrup they have which is reduced sugar and, of course, I had skimmed milk. This was a total of 4 syns. It was the same in Costa – which we treated ourselves to on Friday – but in there it is either the Gingerbread syrup or the Caramel which are both sugar-free.

Exercise

Once again I wore my FitBit. I find it really helps to motivate me as well as keep an eye on what is happening.

One of the biggest things I take note of is my sleep. I have to say that if I am tired (which happens quite a lot at the moment as Rex is poorly with a cough and cold on an almost ongoing basis!) I used to tend to reach for cakes or biscuits or chocolate. At the moment I either sleep or go out for some exercise!

I managed a total of 76 active minutes once again last week – and even managed to break the 10,000 steps mark!

The Seventh Slimming World meeting

This week I really felt like I was part of the group. I am starting to talk to lots more people plus there was a lovely lady who started our group who had transferred from another in the area. She had met her target weight and explained in the group how it had helped her health.

We also chatted about the Slimming World awards which Becs, our group leader, had attended over the weekend.

We all spoke about our ups and downs. One lady had said that she had been weighing herself – but I told her that I had definitely done that too and found that our scales were completely different to the ones in group!

This week I took some tomato puree for the Slimmer of the Week basket.

Weigh-in

Weight at the beginning of my diet: 195.5lbs

Weight last Monday: 185.0lbs

Target weight: 156lbs

Weight this Monday: 183.5lbs

Loss for the week: 1.5lbs

Total Loss so far: 12.0lbs

My goals for this week.

I now have two weeks before I attend another meeting because of our Center Parcs break. I am going to let my hair down a little – but not so much that I do any damage! I know that a measure of rum is 2 syns so will likely have a few of those with diet coke and may allow myself one cream cake BUT the great thing is that we are meal planning and we are going to be getting plenty of exercise – including a session of line dancing!
