Support Barnardo’s with PAW Patrol Toys
In a world before I had Rex, in the times where Grace had outgrown children’s television, a show by the name of PAW Patrol made an appearance. I was only slightly aware of it because my niece, followed by my nephew, both raved about this animated series. Now, Nickelodeon have joined forces with Barnardo’s and created a PAW Patrol toy range to help support this very worthy children’s charity.
The PAW PATROL range is now available in selected Barnardo’s stores around the UK and online at shop.barnardos.org.uk. Prices start at just £1.49 and many of them will make great stocking fillers or gifts for Christmas this year.

What is PAW Patrol?
PAW Patrol centres around a human boy named Ryder who leads a pack of search and rescue dogs known as the PAW Patrol. Together they work to protect Adventure Bay and every programme they have a mission to complete. Each of the rescue dogs has a skill. Marshall, Rubble, Chase, Rocky, Zuma and Sky are the dogs and their names are a clue to what they do. Their doghouses transform into customised vehicles and they have “pup packs”, which are backpacks that contain the tools which relate to their jobs.

Who are Barnardo’s?
Many years ago, when I was in middle school, I wrote a project about Barnardo’s, who they were and what they did, and this has stuck with me to this day.
Thomas Barnardo moved from Dublin to London in the 1800s to train as a doctor. Upon his arrival he was shocked to find children living in terrible conditions, so in 1867, he set up a ‘ragged school’ where children could get a free basic education. As time went on, and as he found out more about these children, he decided to leave his medical training and devoted his life to helping children living in poverty.
He went on to set up many more children’s homes and, when he died in 1905, the charity had 96 homes caring for more than 8,500 vulnerable children. Of course, as time went on, the need for children’s homes decreased and Barnardo’s changed their role. They developed their work with disabled children and children with emotional and behavioural difficulties as well as expanding their fostering and adoption services. They also offer support and protection for children and young people facing a wide range of issues, from drug misuse to disability, from sexual abuse to domestic violence.
Barnardo’s has helped transform the lives of millions of disadvantaged children in the UK, and continues to help families to build a better future. In 2016/17 more than 301,000 children, young people, parents and carers were supported by Barnardo’s through more than 1,000 services across the UK, such as young carers, care leavers, foster carers and adoptive parents, training and skills or parenting classes. How are Nickelodeon supporting Barnardos?
Chief Executive of Barnardo’s Javed Khan said:
“We’re really excited to team up with the ever-popular PAW Patrol to offer shoppers a fantastic and great value range of products to inspire children’s creativity and imagination.
“You can rest assured that when you buy an item you will be helping Barnardos to continue supporting vulnerable children, young people, parents and carers from across the UK as 100 per cent of profits from every purchase will go towards our vital services such as those for children who have been exploited, young carers and care leavers.”

Marianne James VP Commercial Partnerships, Products and Experiences at Viacom Nickelodeon Consumer Products said:
“We are pleased to be working with Barnardos and be the first company to offer such a wide range of products as well as be the first company to have a preschool range which will feature in its shop windows to support fundraising for its important work that helps kids and young adults.”
The range of PAW Patrol-themed toys and stationery items are pocket-money friendly and were launched by Nickelodeon just in time for the new school year to help raise money for Barnardo’s.
The items include rucksacks, space hoppers, arts and crafts and musical instruments and all have designs featuring Chase, Rubble, Skye, and Marshall, who are just a few of the characters from PAW Patrol, Nickelodeon’s number one rated TV show, which is broadcast on Nick Jr. and Channel 5 Milkshake!

The PAW PATROL range is now available in selected Barnardo’s stores around the UK and online at shop.barnardos.org.uk. Prices start at just £1.49 and many of them will make great stocking fillers or gifts for Christmas this year.
Barnardo’s has more than 710 charity shops across the UK where you can find all sorts of bargains, donate goods or volunteer. You can also shop online. All profits from the sale of goods will help the UK’s most vulnerable and disadvantaged children. The Paw Patrol range is available to buy at: shop.barnardos.org.uk
Thank you to Nickelodeon for sending us just some of the new PAW Patrol range in return for this post. I will be donating to Barnardo’s in the run up to Christmas this year.
