My 40th Birthday – A Magic Moment Post
My birthdays have always been something I get a little stressed about. Not because I’m getting older but because the person I was with never seemed to give a flying fig about it! Grace’s father just didn’t care. I didn’t get a card…well, actually tell a lie…. I would get his credit card and told to buy my own present!!! Anyway, I digress.
My 40th Birthday was on 18th May 2011 and has to have been one of my most favourite ever. I had just started seeing Ross in the February and at around 11.30pm on 17th May I got a text asking me if he could talk to me at 12am, my birthday. I told him that this would be fine. I was reminiscing with my old vinyl records and really enjoying myself so I wasn’t going to bed anytime soon. 11.59pm I got a text asking if I was ready. I texted back that I was, the response was – at 12am – ‘open the door then!’ He had turned up in person at my flat. This is one of the most romantic things a man has ever done for me. Chuffed wasn’t the word! I got to open a couple of my presents and saved the rest until morning.
The following day, I opened the most beautiful heart-shaped necklace with a pink sapphire and diamonds from Ross. He then went to work and Grace and I went to meet my Mum and one of my sisters, Davina, for lunch. We went to a pub and had a lovely chat and good food. Then Grace went off to my Mum’s for the evening and I went over to Ross’ house.
After a big lunch, I was exhausted so I went for a sleep. Ross said that he would come and wake me up a bit later and we would go for a drive to listen to some music and then pick up some chicken. Little did I know what he had in store!
We drove in the direction of Camberley which, I have to say, I didn’t really think anything of! We approached Camberley Theatre and Ross suggested we go and have a drink in there. I said that we couldn’t as there was a show on. Then it clicked. The ELO Experience were playing and he knew how much I loved ELO! I squealed at him and he confirmed it. We had tickets to watch their performance. What a show it was! They were fantastic and sounded so like the real thing it was
uncanny.
Once the show was over, we went back to Ross’ house for a meal with champagne. What a wonderful day…a magic moment never to be forgotten.
