Oh Social Media! – A poem for Day 9 of National Poetry Writing Month #NaPoWriMo
My ninth poem for National Poetry Writing Month is ‘Oh Social Media’
Oh Social Media!
Oh social media!
Tell me, what the hell have you done?
You have created a strange new world
Where people think they’re number one
Oh social media!
Do you know what you have created?
People put their lives out there
Their egos, they just get inflated
Oh social media!
Just who is it mediates you?
Everyone feels that they have a right
To do just what they want to do
Oh social media!
I wonder if you will implode?
Everyone shares the minutiae of life
It makes me want to explode
Oh social media!
You sometimes drive me crazy
I wonder what future generations will be
Will it be a world for the lazy?

Ironically i liked this enough to share via social media hehe
Hahaha! Brilliant! Thanks Ginni 🙂
There’s real bite to this and I like it! I’m struggling a lot with social media at the moment so this resonates
Thank you Louise – I was in a bit of a mood when I wrote it!! x
I like this a lot. And I do fear for the future … I am bad enough; what will NG and NC be like when it comes to actually conversing in real life? Books are so important and I think (hope) they will never be a thing of the past. But who knows? Great poem. xx
Thank you so much – and you are so very right! xx
