5 Of My Most Favourite Cars

I have had a few cars in my life. Part of the reason for this is because I used to be a driving instructor. I also used to live with someone who dealt in cars. I have always had an interest in them, so I thought I would share 5 of my most favourite cars to date.

It’s funny, but until I listed them, I hadn’t realised that there weren’t any marque vehicles on the list!

Datsun 180B

I will always have a special place for my very first car. A Datsun 180b. It cost my parents £250 and was really beaten and battered – but I loved it. It had loads of room and was a pretty big vehicle to drive just after passing my test. It definitely meant I got some good experience though. I can remember it got to the stage where I had to get out through the passenger door as, in true Dukes of Hazzard style, the drivers door got stuck!

Honda Civic 

I can remember buying this white Honda Civic from a private seller. I can’t remember where though! I used it on a regular basis when I lived in Guildford and really loved it. It had a sports engine and really picked up speed quickly. I have always been impressed with Japanese cars. They seem to go on forever! This one gave up when it’s gear box gave out and landed up at a local auction.

Vauxhall Corsa

This is the only car I have ever had from new and bought it on a lease basis. Yes, I could have looked to lease the latest BMW, but I knew that I needed something a little smaller and easier to drive. I remember that the new car smell lasted forever in it. I kept it really clean and looked after it. No one else drove it for months – until one of the other staff members I worked with had to go and move it for me. It never felt the same after that.

Mini One D

This is the car that I will always regret having to let go. I had a beautiful blue Mini One Diesel. It was an ex-demo model and hardly had any mileage on the clock when I got it. It was my first privately owned teaching car too. It drove like a dream and I had it when Grace was a baby. Unfortunately I had to sell her as I needed the money. I will always be sad that I let her go.

Mazda 5

These days, I drive a Mazda 5. It is great for so many different reasons. It has 3 rows of seats, the rear of which fold down easily. It has plenty of room – especially if we want to go on holiday anywhere. It is raised and I like sitting higher as a driver as I feel I can see more, as well as the fact that the gear box is slightly raised with it. Finally, the rear doors slide which makes it much easier to get the children in and out. It is another Japanese vehicle and I feel that it will probably go on forever because of this!
