3 Is The Magic Number: Ross and Me in Photos.
Today sees 3 years since Ross and I started seeing each other. What a fabulous, interesting, challenging, fun, annoying, happy, sad, wonderful, funny, angry and joyful 3 years it has been. I wouldn’t change a single day…well, maybe one or two…one because of me and one because of him!
So, to celebrate today, I thought I would show you why 3 is the magic number and share 3 of my favourite photos of us, together and give you a little explanation behind each one.
This photo is of us at my 40th Birthday party. This is the first proper photo of us together and it was taken by Colin Keating – a lovely man I used to work for – who takes all the programme photos for the Quince Players. He took a number of group shots of me and my family and Grace. This photo is so special because it was the first ‘couple’ photo that Ross put up as his profile picture on Facebook. Ross doesn’t really do PDA’s so this was a big deal to me 🙂
This photo looks so amazingly artistic. In fact, it was taken on a disposable camera which was left over from my birthday party! It was taken on our first trip to Portland together to see Ross’ parents. I had met them at a pub lunch previously but this was the first time I had stayed with them. I had a wonderful time. The weather was lovely, we played golf and this photo was taken by Ross aiming and shooting at us on a rock at Portland Bill. Sometimes, it’s the simplest of shots!
This last photo is the one that completely sums us up as a couple! This photo was taken at Ross’ best friend’s wedding (Iain and Patrice) and, theirs was the wedding that David Walliams turned up at on his big swim of the Thames for Sport Relief in 2011. Ross was best man and I chaffeured :). I need to put more of those smiles back on my face at the moment but the sense of fun emanating from both of us is just, well, so us! Ross’ character shows up so well in this picture and, today, when he gets back I have a lovely surprise with regards to this photo for him (all will be revealed later). It’s funny because I don’t really remember the photographer capturing this one!
Ross and I have had our challenges but I firmly believe that it is how you cope with those as a couple that make or break your relationship. Ross is fantastic at admitting when he is wrong. Me? Not so much. We argue. We argue in front of Grace BUT we show her how to argue sensibly and how to apologise afterwards as well as admitting your part to play in where you went wrong. We treat each other with respect. We also have talks about issues and, again, show Grace how to talk about things openly and properly.
Ross, I want to tell you that I think you set a fantastic example to our Grace. You work tirelessly hard to care for us, always wanting more. You are loyal and trusting and trustworthy. You are a wonderful man and I feel so blessed to have you in my life.
To quote Snow Patrol – ‘Those three words, Are said too much, They’re not enough’.
Whenever Ross and I sign off with kisses, we always use 3, so Ross:
I love you

You see? 3 really is a magic number.
I would love some votes in the MAD Blog Awards please. I was there last year as a finalist and would like the chance to be there again. I’d love to be considered for Most Innovative and Best Writer. Please go across to http://www.the-mads.com/awards/ if you think I am worthy!

Great!! I love your photos, they really show that you’re happy together. 🙂
Congratulations, and I love these photos! Challenges are part of being in a relationship, but it’s great that you are arguing sensibly and also setting the right example for Grace.

I hope you celebrated in style and spoiled each other rotten. I absolutely loved the photos! All amazing and show how much love you both have for each other. Three really is the magical number for you! We all argue from time to time, it’s how we deal with it afterwards.
