Mother. A Photography and Poetry Prompt.

Mother. A Photography and Poetry Prompt.

I have to be honest. This was not an easy subject this week. I wasn’t really in the mood to talk about motherhood and babies and the secondary infertility that I am currently experiencing. Sometimes it all becomes a bit much. And then I look at Grace.

She is such a kind girl. She is very caring; to her friends, to our cat and (this might sound strange) to her toys. I caught this photo of her at the weekend after we had been to Hamleys. She loves Beany Boos and her latest one, Duchess, has already been played with, cuddled and introduced to the rest of her toys. I often wonder what she will be like as a Mother one day.

Mother

I watch you and how you are now
And I wonder when and I wonder how
Will you have problems just like me
Or will it happen so easily
I have no doubt on how you’ll care
And on how much you will be there

I hope that you will find the one
Who will hold things together when you come undone
I want him to take care of you
And support you as you care for them too
It’s something that you won’t have known
Until one day when you have your own

You will be wonderful, I have no doubt
Sometimes darling, you’ll need to shout
And you will worry – wait and see
And be frustrated – take it from me
I hope the example I’m setting you
Will help when you become a mother too
