5 Weeks To Go! The Race for Life with Brioche Pasquier.

header-rsd14Once upon a time, 8 years ago, I did a big sponsored walk in Guildford, Surrey. I didn’t realise it at the time but I was a few weeks pregnant with Grace and was about to walk up hill and down dale (some VERY big hills at that too!) for 12 miles.

I raised £300 and split the money between the Endometriosis Society, BRAKE, the road safety charity, and Unique, the rare chromosome charity.

When Brioche Pasquier approached me to say that they would like me to be part of their ‘superteam’ and sponsor me to take part in the Race for Life I was a little apprehensive I have to admit! I haven’t done an individual charity event for years! I feel embarrassed asking people for money and a bit bad (I would rather chose to give to my own charity than feel forced to!). But when they said that they would donate £50 to the Race for Life in aid of Cancer Research UK, how could I refuse. I have worked with them in the past and they are a lovely company too, so even more motivation!

Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life is the UK’s largest series of 5k or 10k women-only fundraising events, which are raising money for research to help beat all 200 types of cancer sooner. The women who take part in Race for Life are a powerful collective force against cancer and a force to be reckoned with. Last year, Brioche Pasquier raised £15,000 for Cancer Research UK and aims to better that for 2014.

Cancer has affected my family and, in particular, my Mum who has bravely fended off breast cancer twice. If she can go through that then it won’t harm me to walk/run 5km – would it?! And, it wouldn’t hurt to ask you lovely lot out there to sponsor me to do this!

I shall be walking/running the 5k route on Sunday 13th July at 11am in Taunton – which is around 40 minutes drive from here.

Race for life 1

Grace and Ross will be there to support me and cheer me on and I am looking forward to the sense of achievement I will have once I have completed my route.

Brioche Pasquier has also helped me along with some tips from a Personal Trainer and some food to fuel my training.

My target this year is £200. So far I have raised 37% of that…

I would love more sponsor money please…50p, a £1, whatever you can manage. Lots of very littles go a very long way!
