Dukan? You Can! My Diet Journey Week 4

This has to have been the toughest week so far without a doubt. I always knew that at some point the weight-loss would get harder but when it does it makes for a small amount of disappointment.

This is not because of the food. I have graciously accepted that I cannot have chocolate and have stopped letting that bother me. I have found an alternative to my lovely Gingerbread Lattes. I bought some ground ginger and some ground cinnamon and added that to my coffee with a large amount of hot skimmed milk and a sweetner. You would never know the difference! Plus, we had a takeaway for the first time last Saturday.

Ross and I had an early lunch as we had two discos to do that day and didn’t finish until 1am. We spied the kebab van across the road from the venue and decided to see if there was anything we could have. Thankfully we could have chicken shish kebab but hold the pitta, salad and extras. I am certain the guys running the van thought us rather strange but we didn’t care! It was delicious!

The only thing I have found tricky this week, with regards to food, is that we have just watched Season Two of ‘The Walking Dead’. I LOVE that show but it really was making it quite difficult to eat meat!

The main reason I believe we haven’t lost as much this week is the lack of gym. This is because we have been – and still are – ill. We are both taking it in turns to wake up at 4am to cough our lungs up! Going to the gym in that state really doesn’t do you any good but given the slower weight-loss it really does show what an important part of the diet it is. I believe it was karma giving me a good telling off for not going last week! Also, I have a medical concern which is being investigated at hospital next week. It is a slight worry and very painful so I am hoping to get it sorted as soon as possible.

However, if the shoes in the photo above aren’t enough to get me back to the gym, I don’t know what is! The lovely people at SportsShoes running section saw my success over the last few weeks and have been extremely kind and sent me a pair of Asics GT2000 running shoes. This is the most beautiful pair of trainers I have ever owned and I can’t wait to put them to work. They have a special gel cushioning system and feel very comfortable.

I haven’t done my measurements this week. This just means a bigger surprise next week!

My weight has yo-yoed all week and was up 1.4lb the day after I weighed myself on my Mum’s scales. It then went up again, went down, stayed the same and then went down! This  just spurs me on even more to lose the weight because I see it as a challenge! I think it shows just how important exercise is as part of your weight-loss plan.  Still, losing 10lbs in 4 weeks is not to be sniffed at.

To summarise:

  • Last Friday: 155.6lbs
  • This Friday: 155.4lbs
  • Loss for the week: 0.2lbs
  • Total loss so far: 10lbs
  • Total to go: 10.4lbs
