Way back in 1985, a band caught my attention on one of the Saturday morning shows. The band was INXS and their song ‘What You Need’. From that moment on, they quickly became a favourite of mine – and I had to kick myself (pardon the INXS pun there!) when I bought the 12″ of this song and realised that I had just missed them playing up the road in Guildford!
That didn’t stop me though. I went on to love them all the way through college and beyond and first saw them play at Hammersmith Apollo in London. I went on to see them at Wembley Arena (SO close to the front!), the London Docklands Arena (when it used to be there!) and Wembley Stadium along with a number of other acts at an event called Summer XS.
For me, the older music of Michael Hutchence, The Farriss Brothers, Garry Gary Beers and Kirk Pengilly has remained my favourite and, my albums of choice are The Swing and Listen Like Thieves which is the album that What You Need is taken from. Have a listen and let me know what you think in the comments below!
