Enjoy at Bottomless Brunch with Montigo Resorts Somerset at Charlton House
Ross and I were recently invited to experience the pan-Asian bottomless brunch experience by Montigo Resorts Somerset at Charlton House and, having thoroughly enjoyed the food, drink, and wonderful ambiance of the venue, it’s something we can highly recommend.
Hotel Manager Imran, an excellent and gracious host who is originally from Sri Lanka, told us he wanted to ensure a truly authentic pan-Asian feel to proceedings and this bottomless brunch event delivers without compromise. With plenty of Somerset Brunch specials in the pipeline, the pop-up TIIGO walled garden is an ideal location, beautifully decorated and well heated to ward off any Autumn chill, leaving guests to enjoy the comfortable seating area and some visually stunning areas including the fire-pit dining tables and freestanding fire pyramids. During our time there, we found staff attentive and accommodating, with the DJ providing a soundtrack (mostly familiar favourites from the 90s) that was enjoyable without being intrusive.
The food selection is inclusive to all dietary requirements, with gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan dishes on offer, and the spice levels approached sensibly to offer huge flavour without burning heat (although this can be adjusted on request for those who enjoy a walk on the warmer side, so to speak).
Food options are diverse with starters from the intriguing lamb cutlet croquettes to classic tempura prawns, and exotic mains including expertly cooked Korean-style grilled octopus and hot butter calamari, as well as Pad Krapow, Indo-chinese Chilli Paneer, and flavoursome curries from Vietnam, Thailand and Sri Lanka.
Now to the bottomless element of this brunch – the drinks! As well as beer, soft-drinks, and mocktails, there are six cocktails included in the bottomless offer, five of which we tried during our visit and we can confirm they are very tasty (and, in some cases, very strong!) for sure.
Before the first taste has touched your tongue, you know you’re in for a treat by just smelling and looking at the drinks – the team here really have got their presentation spot on, which adds hugely to the highest-quality feel of the event.
There are refreshing mojitos (either ‘classic’, raspberry or passion fruit) and an outstanding Mai Tai, both of which made for superb ‘starter’ cocktails before we moved into less familiar territory.
The Peachy Blinder is a sweet and spicy dark rum cocktail with peach, mint and a hint of chilli which really comes through without overwhelming the other ingredients. The Lost in Asia is a vodka martini cocktail with a kick of grapefruit and lemon, balanced by the addition of lychee and grenadine.
The strongest drink of all (at least according to Ross!) is the Oaxacan Negroni, theatrically presented with steam pouring from the tumbler. With an earthy, smoky Mezcal as the base, combined with vermouth and bitters, the Oaxacan Negroni is an experience as much as a drink!
The only bottomless cocktail we didn’t try was the Basil Bangkock-Tail, a gin, basil and passion fruit refresher that sounds well worth a second sampling. Other cocktails outside of the bottomless offer include an Apple Bourbon Old Fashioned, Spicy Margarita, Pina Paradise, Caribbean Coffee and more.

Running on Sat 19th and 26th October from 1pm to 11pm, the pan-Asian bottomless brunch is £60 per person for two hours of drinks along with one main and one side dish. During November and December, there will be additional themed party nights at TIIGO with a similar celebratory vibe, outstanding dishes and cocktails; information about these events and more can be found on the Charlton House website.
