4 Ways to Show Your Friends That You Care

Do you remember the last time you did something special for your friends?

Within a group of besties, it can sometimes be hard to find ways of showing each other that you care. Thanks to busy work and personal lives it can often feel impossible to keep up with what everyone else is doing. Luckily, there are plenty of simple little things you can do to share the love with your gal pals. Here are a few ideas to inspire you to reach out more often and strengthen the bond between you.

Remembering the little things

It doesn’t matter whether you’ve been friends for years or weeks, showing that you remember the little details proves that you really care. If your friend has had a bad day, send them a funny picture of the two of you together to cheer them up. If you live far apart, maybe send them a package filled with all their favourite treats to let them know they’re on your mind. These little gestures don’t have to cost a lot of money or take up much time, but they will mean a lot to the person receiving them. It’s a lovely way of letting someone know that you are there for them.

Celebrate their milestones

Whether it’s a big milestone; like moving into a new house, or something small; like finally making it to the gym, celebrating each other’s achievements is a vital part of any friendship group. Rather than just dropping a text for the major events, which can be quite impersonal, why not send a card in the post. If your friend receives a handwritten engagement card, for example, she’ll feel far more touched than she would with a generic WhatsApp message. Similarly, if your friend is promoted at work, a bottle of bubbly when you next see each other won’t go amiss – especially if you’re all celebrating together!

Make time for each other

You don’t have to do something amazing every time you meet up. Sometimes, just dropping in at their home for an evening or for an afternoon cuppa and a catch up is enough. Maybe take a pack of their favourite biscuits with you, so you can have a good old natter over a hot drink while you set the world to rights. If you don’t live near one another, simply calling them up and asking about their day or week is enough to show you’ve always got time for them.

Be there for pep talks

Everyone feels fed up and doubts themselves at some point in life.  During these times,  it’s the job of a good friend to stop these negative thoughts in their tracks. If a friend is going through a hard time, having an honest chat that leaves them feeling empowered and valued will work wonders for their self-esteem. Sometimes all that’s needed is an ear to listen and a friend to talk to and in no time at all, they’ll be feeling back to their usual selves!
