Present Perfection – Give a Great Gift without Breaking the Bank

Whether it’s a birthday, Valentines day, mother’s day or an anniversary- there’s nothing nicer than giving a gift to a person that you care about. A little token of appreciation, something to show you care or have thought about them. When you reach adulthood, seeing a person’s face light up because of something you’ve given them is equally as enjoyable as receiving a gift yourself. But what about if you don’t have a whole lot of money to spend on this kind of thing? Here are some ideas for gifting the perfect present, without breaking the bank.

Find a bargain

Before dashing out to the shops and paying full price for something, it’s always worth having a look around for bargains. You could use a site like Net Voucher Codes to see if there are any good coupons, or you could ask around on your social media to see if anyone has spotted any good sales lately. You could use a cashback site like Quidco to get some money back too. In some cases, five minutes of searching around can save you significantly on the overall cost, so it’s always worth having a look. You might just find that it’s cheaper to buy from a different shop than the original one you looked in. It’s not like the old days where you’d have to traipse around physical stores to compare, these days it takes seconds to type in the product and check that you’re not paying over the odds.

Make something yourself

If you have a particular skill why not put it to use? You could use your baking skills to make a big cake or a box of cupcakes or cookies. You could knit or sew something, or make them a candle, piece of jewellery or a bath bomb depending on your abilities. If you don’t have any special skills to speak of, how about a custom hamper? A cheap wicker basket filled with a few smaller items looks great and gives a gift a homemade touch. You could even look for something handmade from a store on Etsy.

Consider a token gift

When it comes to gift giving, it really is the thought that counts. For this reason, a small token gift is completely acceptable and is a great way to show someone you’ve thought about them even if you don’t have lots of cash to spend. It could be a candle from the supermarket, a pair of fluffy socks or a piece of costume jewellery– you can get pretty necklaces, rings and earrings very cheaply from places like Primark. If you want to make the gift look more impressive, consider adding a box of chocolates, a bunch of flowers or a bottle of wine- again, these things don’t have to cost much. In fact, you can find them in most supermarkets. Pound stores are great for small gift bits, and if you’re looking for budget home gifts then scour your local Ikea.
