Flip Out Somerset Gold Party Package Review

At the beginning of January, we had the good fortune to experience Flip Out Somerset, a trampolining centre in Wellington, just off the M5. This was a party for Grace’s 12th birthday and she brought along 5 friends for the experience.

About Flip Out

Flip Out are the UK’s biggest trampolining park operator. Not only do they offer a whole host of bouncing fun, it also means that your kids get a great amount of exercise (without them even realising it!).
As well as the trampolines, they also offer stunt box areas, ball games and a resident DJ playing some great songs to bounce to. They also run fitness and toddler sessions, special events and, of course, parties.
They have 78 centres in 7 different countries, including 24 here in the UK.

How to Get to Flip Out, Wellington

Flip Out Wellington is really easy to find. It is on the Business Park just off junction 26 of the M5. They have plenty of parking too.

What the Party Experience Included

The package we had the opportunity to review was the brand new Gold Package, which they are launching this year.

The Gold Party Package costs £23.95 per child.

My Thoughts

Overall, I thought that the idea for this party was excellent.

Grace and her friends had a fantastic time. They were able to come and go as they pleased to the party room we had and, because it was the large downstairs room, it made it quicker and easier to access. It was a great place for them to leave all their belongings. They also had unlimited Polar Krush drinks on offer. I was pleasantly surprised to see that these was all sugar-free and the sweetner used was stevia. They had a huge range of flavours too!

We were supposed to have priority check in as well as a private safety briefing – neither of which happened. They were also supposed to have unlimited sweets but, unfortunately, these were not on offer. They did get a small pack of Haribo each. When I asked the manager about this, he explained that as we were trialling the party they had not set this up as yet!

The girls assured me that the pizza that they had was very tasty. We had chosen the meat feast and the cheese and tomato flavours the day before the party. They had 2 slices of pizza each which, I felt wasn’t really enough to call it a buffet. Thankfully I had brought a birthday cake too! Otherwise, I think the girls would have felt rather short-changed.

We did feel a little ‘rushed out’ at the end. We had to clear up cake, get the girls belongings together as well as make sure we had all of Rex’s things. I completely understand that they may have needed the room back but a little advance notice would be nice instead of ‘right, everybody out!’

All that said, the girls had a fantastic time. The activities kept them busy for the whole hour and Ross and I hardly saw them!

They were given a lovely little drawstring party bag at the end containing a bouncy ball (a big hit!), a Flip Out ruler, rubber and pencil, notebook, stickers and a voucher for a 1 hour return visit.

What They Could Improve On

I feel that, before they launch this party to the general public, they do need to provide a bit more staff training about what is involved. I also feel that they could increase the amount of pizza so that it is a buffet, rather than just 2 pizzas between them. For the price you are paying, it doesn’t really seem to equate to me.

It would also be nice If they made a little more effort on the party room. Some music videos put on the TV screens in the room would’ve be great for the girls. Instead, I found Spotify on my phone and put some tunes on for them.

Grace’s Thoughts

Grace thought that it was great fun. Here is what she said:

We had plenty of time on the trampolines and in the fun areas. I really enjoyed the inclusive food and slushies. The party bag was really cool – especially the voucher which meant we were able to go for a return a visit. We had a lot of fun with the bouncy balls too!

They could have given us a bit more pizza and a little more time to eat in the room afterwards – or at least given us a warning rather than tell say ‘right, that’s it. Your time is up’. But these are only small things and certainly did not stop me having a great time.

My Final Thoughts

Overall, I think that this is a fantastic place for a party for slightly older children (not so much for toddlers as Rex proved to us). It was Grace’s 12th birthday party and it suited her fine. She was able to go off and have fun with her friends without the grown-ups breathing down her neck. It also meant that they got to expend a lot of energy!

Whilst I felt that the price was a little expensive in return for what you received, I would certainly recommend a Flip Out party to anyone with children aged 7 or over.
