Christmas Ideas for Bird Lovers by the RSPB
Grace and I have always been enthusiastic about birds coming into our garden. I can remember us sitting for ages at our lounge window watching different birds come and go but our favourite was always our robin. I found a bit of comfort in the fact that he watched over us when we lived on our own.
We now live in a different part of the country and, because we are in a more rural location, we get many different species of birds arriving in our garden – together with a large number of very big seagulls. I can now see why ‘Finding Nemo’ used the ‘mine’ phrase for them. They are so grabby!
There are plenty of great gift items out there for people who love animals of the feathered variety. Some great Christmas Ideas for Bird Lovers are listed below.
Table of Contents
Classic easy-clean seed feeder – medium RRP £10.99
This feeder was recently improved by the RSPB to introduce a new perch shape for the birds to enable them to grip more easily. It is made with tough, durable UV-stabilised polycarbonate tubing and is 49cm tall with four ports and holds 1 litre of seeds. It is also easy to clean.
Treat Tray Window Feeder RRP £4.99
Perfect for anyone without a garden but would still like birds to visit, this lightweight window feeder from the RSPB will provide you with a fantastic view. It is made from strong polycarbonate which is sturdy enough to support small birds such as blue tits, chaffinch, sparrows and robins, and is very easy to clean. It is very easy on the pocket too!
Premium sunflower hearts bird seed RRP from £3.75 for a 900g bag
This is a best seller with the RSPB. You can treat many different species of birds to a food which is rich in oil and protein and full of the good things for them – especially over the winter months. They are quick and easy for them to eat and you are likely to attract tits, greenfinches, goldfinches, blackbirds, song thrushes and sparrows amongst many others.
Premium Feeding Station RRP £34.99

We have tried – and failed – to have a feeding station in our garden before. But I think that is what you get for trying to cut corners and buying too cheaply (excuse the pun!). This brand new feeding station from the RSPB is made to their safety specifications without any bird foot traps and has a stylish black finish – which won’t tarnish like the cheap ones!
There are five arms to hang feeders (not supplied), a water bowl and two mesh trays. A great product to attract plenty of birds to your garden.
Arch Ground Feeder RRP £19.99

I love this ground feeder. It’s clever design means that the mesh feeding area stops water from collecting and the clear roof also gives some protection from the rain. It means that you get an uninterrupted view of the birds as they feed. It is quick and easy to assemble and the design of the feeder also means you can hang it up.
Ultimate bird feeder guardian, medium RRP £24.99

This is a great idea to help keep the pesky seagulls at bay! This feeder guardian is strong and well-constructed from powder-coated steel in order to make sure that the feeders are resistant to larger birds and adult squirrels. It also helps to protect smaller birds from predators.
