A Review of the Do The Unthinkable Diet from Musclefood UK – Week 2

Last week I introduced you to the diet from Musclefood and our first week on the Do The Unthinkable plan – protein-fuelled food coupled with a DVD full of exercise. So, how did Ross and I fare on the second week? Here is our latest update.

The Food

We are continuing to enjoy the food and we have started to be able to pick out our favourites a bit easier. I am finding that I tend to feel full between meals and don’t always need my snacks. Then, I find that at lunchtimes I am too full for a main meal and have a snack instead!

The great thing is that none of the dishes are boring. They are tasty and, because there are things like curry and pizza, it doesn’t really feel like you are on a diet. The Goats Cheese Pizza is totally recommended!

The only thing I have found is that the expiry dates can creep up on you quicker than I first thought. For example, our delivery arrives on a Monday and some of the meals have an expiry on for 4 days later. Just keep an eye on this and place them in the freezer if necessary.

Vicky

Likes – the chocolate peanut butter brownies, chocolate porridge, chicken tikka pizza, lasagne and the Chicken tikka masala stir fry curry kit. Now I can add the Goats Cheese Pizza to this list too!

Dislikes – chicken teryaki soup, chicken stroganoff

Ross

Likes – lasagne, chicken balti stir fry curry kit, persian lime chicken, strawberry & apple porridge, all the chocolate protein bars.

Dislikes – the apple and cinnamon porridge.

The Exercise

The exercise has not come easy this week as Ross and I are trying to work on next to no sleep. Ross also has a major deadline to meet and I am trying to care for a poorly Rex – which is exhausting in itself. I have been backwards and forwards to the doctors this past week. This all leaves very little time for anything else.

Plyometric Circuit

Starting with a 3 minute warm-up, this exercise consists of Jump Squats, Hand Release Push Ups, Plyometric Lunges, Squat Thrusts, Shoulder Taps, 1,2,3’s with Burpee, 8 Mountain Climbers with 8 High Knees and Suicide Planks.

Tabata

This consists of six exercises, 20 seconds per exercise and 10 seconds rest. It starts with a 3 minute warm-up and includes Mountain Climbers and Body Weight Squats.

This level of exercise is a highly intense physical program which people in their later 30s and 40s who have not been physically active for a long time will find incredibly difficult – with the greatest will in the world, the sooner a programme starts to feel incredibly difficult, the easier it is to walk away. It appears that the DVD features people in their twenties which does indicate to me who this diet is aimed at. That said, I am not giving up yet!

Our Results After the Second Week

The second week has most definitely been harder than the first but I feel that is mainly down to our home life rather than the diet itself. We are both hoping that, with Ross finally meeting his deadline and Rex improving health-wise, we will fare far better next week with an improvement on the exercise front. The food has been a godsend and not only helped our health but also our sanity in the fact that we have not had to think about what to eat and that it is already prepared for us. The only thing we have had to do is feed Grace and Rex.

Here are our results:
