A Review of the Pregnancy Care Gift Set from Indigo Herbs – PLUS WIN 1 of 3.

One of the things that I have found very important during my pregnancy this time around is making sure to make time for yourself. Not in a selfish way I hasten to add but, with the encouragement of my family, I tend to get a rest most days. I haven’t really had that many baths as I feel a bit cumbersome in our tub for some reason!

Anyway, when Indigo Herbs wrote to me to offer me the chance to try out one of their pregnancy care gift sets, I was really pleased. I have worked with them previously and really value their products and like what they stand for but I wasn’t aware that they catered for pregnant ladies.

The gift set is filled with support for use during the 2nd and 3rd trimester of pregnancy. I have been making sure that I do my best to eat healthily (the chocolate stays though, right!) but it is also important to make sure that you care for your body. I have started aquanatal classes and pregnancy yoga but, thanks to this care pack, I am able to use herbal products that have been traditionally used for centuries in the journey to motherhood.

What’s in the box?

Raspberry leaf tea

Raspberry leaf tea is one of the best and only herbal products during pregnancy. It has proven to be of great benefit and is a known as a tonic for the womb. It is thought that it helps to tone the muscles of the uterus which makes them work better during labour and, rather than speed it up, it helps a nice, steady pace. It is also naturally high in magnesium, potassium, iron and b-vitamins which make it helpful for nausea, leg cramps, and improving sleep during pregnancy. Like other herbal teas, raspberry leaf should be drunk in moderation.

A red or green strawberry shaped tea infuser (silicon)

Of course, the tea will need to be infused into the hot water somehow so this lovely strawberry tea infuser is included in the pack.

The Pregnancy Care massage oil (100ml)

Pregnancy Care is Indigo Herbs own blend of pure essential oils which are a mix of warm fruity scents which are invigorating as well as being formulated with calming herbs to help with an ambience of tranquillity. Included are the essences of Mandarin, Lavender and Geranium. To transform this into a massage oil, these are mixed with Almond, Wheatgerm and Marigold. I have been massaging it into my bump since I received it as, not only does it smell wonderful, it nurtures the skin too helping to combat stretch marks. It is safe to use daily.

The Pregnancy Care essential oil (10ml)

Using the same essences as the massage oil, this essential oil can be released into the air by diluting in a little water and evaporating in an oil burner using 2 to 3 drops or added to your bath using 6 to 8 drops. I have been using it in my bath and I have to say that I find it extremely relaxing.
