Our Highlights from Countryfile Live 2018
Last weekend we were at Countryfile Live. I have wanted to visit ever since it started so, when I was offered the chance, Grace and I used it as an opportunity to spend some much-needed mother/daughter time together. It would give me a chance to get some photographs and Grace the chance to try out some of the many activities on offer.
This post lists some of our most favourite moments from the Saturday and Sunday at Countryfile Live 2018 which took place at Blenheim Palace in Woodstock, Oxfordshire.

Countryfile Live on Saturday 4th August
The Zipwire
One of the first things Grace wanted to experience was the zipwire which was stationed across the pontoon bridge, just the other side of the Waterside area. There was a small queue but once Grace got on, she was definitely in her element!
The Wildlife Zone
I think that this was probably my favourite area of the weekend. There was a gorgeous and very informative tent from the British Beekeepers Association which not only displayed an open hive with live bees but there were plenty of crafts and activities to keep kids busy, together with jars of honey to buy and lots and lots of educational information.
There was also information on butterflies and caterpillars at the Butterfly Conservation stand and birds from the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust. As a result, it means that there will be plenty of things to keep us busy for the rest of the summer holidays.
Dog Agility at The Dog Lovers Arena
Having recently seen a display of dog agility at Forde Abbey’s Summer Fayre, Grace and I were keen to catch another display from the Kennel Club. Hosted by another of my childhood favourites, Peter Purves, the former Blue Peter presenter. There were some great displays of tricks, agility and skill.
The Quilter Cheviot Theatre Talk – Capturing the Moment
I wanted to try and make at least one of the many talks taking place over the weekend so Grace and I managed to take a break, sit in the shade of the Quilter Cheviot Theatre and listen to all things photography from Ross Dickie, Austin Thomas and Ian Savage.
There was lots of advice on cameras, shots and making sure that you carved out your own niche. There was a question and answer session at the end and I asked how I could make a living as a wildlife photographer. Turns out that it is nigh on impossible but, as long as I try and do my own thing and enjoy it, then that is the main thing.

Oh wow. I’m so jealous. This looks fantastic! Love the idea of all the different places to explore..
It sounds fabulous, and you managed to pack so much in! I haven’t actually heard of it before, but will keep an eye out for next year! 🙂
Hi Vivtoria, what a fun packed two days! It all looks very interesting, the wildlife zone (those luminescent caterpillars!) and the dogs agility would have been the two highlights if I had been there. In fact I would have forced my dogs to watch just to let them know they are far more capable than they know (I may have pinched that line from a Piglet & Pooh discussion from one of the films)… I can’t believe that John Craven is still going strong too. Now he is a blast from my childhood!

xx
You did so much and I just love the caterpillar in the cocoon pictures. And oh my you saw John Craven. I would have been so star struck if I saw him!!
Looks awesome and so much to see and do for all ages X #mysundayphoto
Looks like fabulous fun!
Beautiful photos, we attended a colour of years back and had such a good day out. Love the reflection in Grace’s glasses.
Have a good Sunday and thank you for linking up to #MySundayPhoto
Loev the action in the dog agility photos and I found myself staring at the pic of Richard Coles for ages thinking “that isn’t John Craven, surely????” Love the detial in the caterpilar pics too. As ever Victoria, some awesome photography. Didn’t get to go to the event although it was “on my manor” so to speak, being just up the road from where I grew up.
It looks like a great day out and you got some fantastic photos. I especially love the one with the reflections in Grace’s sunglasses.
Look slike you had a great time, I was invited but couldn’t go I’m going to try and visit next year though #MySundayPhoto
Looks like an event that grows more and bigger each year. Lovely photos.
It sounds like the only way to get booked on activities is to be there first in the queue, and to do that you really need to be there overnight. We’ve been there before as the gates open but the queues have still been long to get in, in future we’d defnitely head to the water early. N wanted to try the kayak or canoeing too (good tip on the swimwear!). The Shires were great weren’t they. Although N could have done with a friend to help entertain him and keep him interested for longer.
Looks like you managed to get round a lot. We felt like we hardly did anything because the weather was just too hot for us. Great pics too – I get my camera back after 11 weeks at the repairers tomorrow. Seeing these photos really makes me realise how much I’ve missed having a good lens/zoom in the evenings.
