Guest Post: 3 Great Places to Stay in Somerset

My very first guest post comes from Lizzie who writes at Lizzie Somerset. I found this very apt as, 4 years ago last week, our family relocated from Berkshire to the lovely county of Somerset. Although it took me a while to adapt, we love it here and are very happy. With this in mind, it is great to have Lizzie – who doesn’t live that far from me – share just 3 of the wonderful places in this beautiful county.

How would you feel if I told you that you wouldn’t need to leave your own county to get a well deserved break?

Sounds intriguing doesn’t it?

That’s exactly what a stay in Somerset can give you. All the comforts of knowing where you are and the places to go, all while discovering new places in your area without the bumper to bumper motorway tailbacks.

Somerset offers everything a break should be; stunning scenery, new and vibrant eateries and a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

Here are 3 amazing places to stay in Somerset that top my list right now:

Our weekend family trip to Butlin’s opened our eyes to West Somerset and Exmoor. The countryside of South Somerset gives way to heather and moorland and ends up sea side with beautiful inlets like Porlock Weir.

Find out what we thought about the Butlin’s Accommodation which is nothing like the hi-de-hi rooms of yesteryear. Absolutely brilliant for big and little kids too.

Bath is a Georgian city that is world famous for it’s Roman Spa and elegant architecture.

Tourists flock from all over the world to see stunning Bath Abbey, and of course the Roman Baths to see how the Romans lived. Historically it’s a stunning city with lots of exciting eateries and delightful olde world pubs.

If shopping is more your cup of tea, there is everything from designer boutiques to every known High Street brand you can think of and love.

If you require an adult only /pet free retreat for complete peace and quiet then consider The Treehouse. This is rustic living with luxury thrown in.

Yurts are available too at this adults only retreat near Crewkerne in South Somerset.

There is a break in Somerset to suit everyone!
