Barricade. A Poem. #Prose4T

Barricade

Don’t tell too much to anyone
Don’t let your feelings show
Because what you have could come undone
If all of your feelings they know

Don’t expose yourself, leaving it open
Always hold something back
Because they can’t hurt you time and again
If knowledge is something they lack

You build up all your barricades
Don’t let anyone see
But just how long is this charade
The longer you stay with me

So hold it all back then
If that’s what you must do
But please remember me in this
Because I have feelings too

The second verse is particularly true about holding back in the hope that it keeps ‘one’ safe and from further hurt. Your poems definitely deliver the emotions you want to portray every time. #prose4T

It can be so suffocating to be in a prison of our own making, and yet it can be so painful for those trying to break down the walls too. You’ve captured it so beautifully here Vic. Thanks so much for hosting #prose4T x
