A Song for the Weekend #16 Slipping Through My Fingers from Mamma Mia

A Song for the Weekend #16 Slipping Through My Fingers from Mamma Mia

This week’s song is another one which is a nod towards Grace and her leaving first school next week. This morning was her final Sports Day at St Bartholomews and, I am pleased to say, that she went out with a bang by coming first in the sprint race and her team coming first in the overall event.

On our walk to school on Wednesday morning, I asked her how she felt about the fact that this would not only be one of our last walks to St Barts but also our last walks to school together as she would want to be walking with her friends, she told me that it made her happy and sad at the same time – and I have to admit that this is exactly how I feel too.

Now, all I keep doing is getting tearful and thinking of the song I am sharing with you this week. The words to ‘Slipping Through My Fingers’ are at the forefront of my mind right now. It is even more relevant as the songs from the film ‘Mamma Mia’ were regularly watched and danced to by us when Grace was much younger. She was coming up for two when we bought the DVD and it was – and still is – one of our ‘go to’ films. I am sharing it for all the other parents who may be feeling like I do this week.

Oh gosh! this post has made me all sad. I have been listening to this song as the time is coming for my own little one to start preschool. I am so used to being with her all the time Monday to Friday that I am so incredibly sad that our time of being together all the time is coming to an end. I don’t want to be without her!!!!! I am so grateful so every day this summer that I get to spend with her this summer, as I know that come September that things will never be the same again 🙁
