One of the very first services I reviewed on this blog was Reading Eggs. To this day I still think it is a fantastic learning tool for children and, eventually, I hope to be able to put their learning tools for younger children to the test once again.
Throughout the months of May and June, Reading Eggs are running a brand new campaign called School Readiness. This programme is aimed at brand new readers and is suitable for children aged 3 and over to help them get a head start before they start school in September. New sign ups will benefit from a 5 week free trial of Reading Eggs and, on top of that, there will also be a 5 week free trial of Mathseeds to help with a head start on numbers too.
I am aware that, as a parent, I play an important part in helping with my daughter’s development and this online learning tool helps immensely in this process. The course has been developed by primary school teachers who have over 30 years of experience.
Having used Reading Eggs when Grace was small, we both found the courses engaging and interesting as well as being lots of fun. There are hundreds of different lessons and your child can go at their own pace as they learn. There are over 2,000 online books on the Reading Eggs site and they are plenty of options for beginners. The courses cover early reading skills, letter recognition, phonics and sight words to name but a few.
As the lessons are completed, you earn eggy points which you can save up to spend in the online store. You can create your own avatar and buy different clothing, pets and even furnishings for your online house. As well as the learning courses you can also earn extra egg points by playing games in the fun area.
This video will give you a better idea of the animations you can expect to see throughout the programme:
