The Raclette Grill from Severin and Some Quick and Easy Marinade Recipes

Regular readers of my blog will be familiar with the fact that I have reviewed a number of Severin products over the last couple of weeks kindly sent to me by Homespares. These include

The last product on the list is the raclette grill. This is basically an indoor barbecue and is one of the healthiest and easiest ways to prepare your food. Because it is electric, it is easier to heat up and is perfect for a table-top device when you are entertaining friends.

On top there is a natural grill stone for low-fat healthy grilling and next to this is a reversible, non-stick diecast grill plate for grilling on one side and areas for 4 mini crêpes on the other side. There are also 8 mini pans situated beneath both grill plates which enable you to cook your vegetables or somewhere you can heat up sauces, onions and seasoning and melt cheese. It is also reall easy to clean thanks to the non-stick grill coating.

One of the things that I love to do to add flavour to meat is to marinade it – and most marinades are quick and easy and only take around an hour to infuse. Here are a few of my favourites:

Marinade for Salmon (2 fillets)

Mix 4 tbsp oil, 2 tbsp soy sauce, 2 spring onions, 1 clove of garlic and 1 tsp of ginger paste to make a marinade, pour over salmon and marinate for 1 hour in the fridge.

Marinade for Chicken (4 chicken breasts)

Mix together 225ml extra virgin olive oil, 1 lemon, juiced 2 cloves garlic, chopped, 1 teaspoon salt, freshly ground black pepper and 1/2 teaspoon paprika. Click slits in the chicken so that it infuses better and pour over the mixture. Leave to marinate overnight or for at least 6 hours.

Marinade for Pork (4 pork loins)

1 lemon, zest grated, half a cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (4 lemons), olive oil, 1 tbsp minced garlic (3 cloves) 1 tbsp minced fresh rosemary leaves, 1 tbsp chopped fresh thyme leaves, 1 tspn Dijon mustard. Mix together and pour over the pork. Marinate in the fridge for at least 3 hours.

Marinade for lamb (6 lamb steaks)

1/4 cup chopped fresh mint, 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar, 2 tsps ground cumin, 1 tspn wholegrain mustard, 2 tspns honey, 1/2 tspn salt, 1/2 tspn freshly ground black pepper. Mix together and pour over the lamb steaks. Marinade in the fridge for at least 4 hours.

Marinade for beef (4 steaks)

2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce, 3 garlic clove, crushed, the juice of 2 limes, 2 tbsp red wine vinegar, 1 tbsp cumin, 1 tbsp chilli flakes, 1 small onion (chopped), 2 tbsp olive oil. Mix the ingredients together and pour over the steaks. Marinate for at least 4 hours in the fridge.

Any of these can then be cooked on the raclette grill for not only great flavour but a really healthy way of cooking.
