When I heard that Furniture Village were running a competition to share your dream Christmas dinner party simply by creating a Pinterest board – and inviting any guest of your choice – I had to go and take a look.
All you have to do is follow Furniture Village on Pinterest then create a board entitled ‘Dining with Furniture Village’. You pin picture of the Furniture Village dining table of your dreams from their site, plus a minimum of 5 other products, in order to complete your dinner party items. As well as the products, you need to pin an image of the famous guest or guests (you are allowed up to 3) that you would like to host then say on the entry page why you chose them and the selected products.
I have decided to take part and here is what I have chosen.
Firstly, I thought that I would share with you the dining table and related items.
I love anything traditional and, to me, this Provence range from Furniture Village is fabulous. Our dining room is also our conservatory which is a dark wood. This lighter wood would compliment without it looking out of place and without making the room too dark. There is an extending table and 6 chairs – which look extremely comfortable and easy to sit on for our chosen guest. The sideboard would be perfect to hold our dinner service and related items and the top would hold our after dinner drinks tray. The display cabinet would hold our memorabilia as a talking point for our guest and the coffee table and nest of tables are a perfect addition to hold drinks and nibbles for both before and after dinner chats.
In an addition to the main dining table and furniture, I have decided to include some extra items to add to the experience and ensure our guest was made to feel welcome.
I have chosen the New England Windham Leather Chair as the perfect armchair for our special guest to sit in after dinner with a glass of brandy relaying his stories to us from around the world. To make him feel at home, there is the union rug and antique map wall clock. The argenta floor lamp will help throw a little light on the subject and both wall paintings of the stag and seaspray will relate to our guest. Finally, I chose the scatter cushions because their colours remind me of one of my favourite series made by our guest – The Blue Planet.
So, who is would be our chosen guest?
Sir David Attenborough. I have long admired his complete and utter knowledge of all things nature. His programmes are fascinating and full of knowledge and what he doesn’t know about Natural History is not worth knowing. This is a guest that would keep all ages entertained and engaged with his stories from around the world and his amazing knowledge of wildlife, flora and fauna. With Grace already saying that she would like to rescue animals for the RSPCA when she grows up, this is one guest that she would definitely take an interest in.
Here is my board on Pinterest.
