I don’t know about you but I have always found that more accidents around the house happen at this time of the year. I’m not sure whether it is because everyone is rushing around a bit frantically and aren’t really concentrating on what they are doing or whether it is because they are knackered. I reckon it is probably a bit of both.
One of the main accidents that seem to occur are spillages! The family all get together in one house and someone is bound to drop food or drink – and, generally, it is on the carpet. CarpetRight are currently exploring the toughest and most common carpet stains and looking at coming up with fool-proof solutions to help prevent them and make home life easier.
With that in mind, they have launched a competition for people to share their biggest #CarpetStain moment. All you need to do is nip over to their website before midnight on 5th January 2015 and share your story for the chance to win a brand new CarpetRight carpet for a large room in your house – they have said the funnier or more dramatic, the better!
They have also teamed up with Dr. Beckmann, one of the market leaders in stain removal and they are offering everyone who enters the competition a 20% off voucher to spend on any of the Dr Beckmann’s products online. Not only that, but they have a runner up prize to offer to one person a year’s supply of stain remover.
So, what about my story?! Well, I would like to tell you about the time Grace came in with dog poo on her shoes or the time I found a huge area of carpet that one of the cats had decided to use when they had an upset tummy but I am not a big fan of excrement stories. Instead mine is one of make-up and oil paint.
When I was a teenager, I used to share a room with my sister. The dressing table area was mainly used by me – not only for putting up my teenage make-up but also for all the silly projects that I used to conjure up. Like the time I decided to do an oil painting of our house. As a present. For my father. I wanted to impress him. One day as I was packing up, I couldn’t find two of the brushes and, as I always did at the time, I just shrugged my shoulders and thought that they would just turn up. What I hadn’t realised was that the paint brushes, covered in oil paint, had fallen onto the floor and were under my dressing table floor.
Later, as I was doing my make-up, I felt something squidgy under foot. I dropped my make-brush (what is it with me and brushes?!) and, as I bent to pick it up, I realised it had fallen onto my missing paint brushes. Thus, a mixture of make-up infused oil paints had stained the carpet on the bedroom floor. I tried everything to hide it – and I am not sure to this day whether my Mum ever found out (and if she hasn’t, then she has now!).
