Cooking up some magic with #OXOHerbsAndMore

OXO 3Never have I ever heard my family rave so much about their vegetables since I started using the OXO Herbs and More (or #OXOHerbsAndMore if you are on social media!). I have worked with OXO before and when they chose me to write about their latest project, I was so pleased. The Shake and Flavour range have become a staple in our house. Now, it seems that the Herbs and More are going to overtake them!

Basically, the OXO Herbs and More range add magic to your meals in minutes. They are little pots of herb and flavour reductions, conveniently sealed in little tubs and easy to use. OXO decided to put us to the challenge. They sent us the whole range of Herbs and More which include Tarragon and Chive, Rosemary and Thyme, Rosemary and Red Wine, Roast Garlic and Parsley and Lemon and Thyme.

OXO also sent us some recipe cards, two aprons and a ‘magic wand’ (wooden spoon). We were challenged to make a magical meal in minutes, with Grace as the Kitchen Magician and me as the Kitchen Magician’s Assistant (Grace didn’t half rub this in!). The recipes were really straightforward and easy for Grace to follow.

We decided to make A Great Glazed Cod. All we needed were:

  • 2 x 170g cod loins
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 25g unsalted butter
  • 1 Tarragon and Chive Herbs and More

We started by pan-frying the cod in the olive oil and then putting it into the oven for twelve minutes whilst we melted 25g of butter in the same pan with the Tarragon and Chive flavoured Herbs and More. We then removed the fish from the oven, put it on a plate and ‘abracadabra’ we put the Herbs and More mixture over the top.

We also decided to serve up some broccoli and roasted peppers with the meal. The broccoli also flavoured with the Herbs and More, by boiling the broccoli, draining it, then using the pan to melt 25g of butter and Rosemary and Thyme Herbs and More and then replacing the broccoli and tossing it in the herbs and more mixture.

The meal was utterly delicious. The Herbs and More add a real, proper, decent flavour to the food. I also cooked carrots using the roast garlic and parsley the following night. Grace was desperate for more! But alas, we had eaten them all.

I am most definitely putting Herbs and More on my shopping list as I feel that we are going to run out of them sooner than I thought!

Disclosure: I’m working with BritMums and OXO on this project. I was sent the Herbs and More Range and some kitchen goodies in order to take part, however, all words and images are my own and have not been influenced in any way.

Oooh I have to admit I’ve passed these int he supermarket and thought they would be the normal veg, beef, chicken type of stock so didn’t really look. But they look and sound really nice. Your little chef looks like she’s done an excellent job!
