Welcome back to Post Comment Love’s usual home! Thank you so much to Jaime at The Olivers Madhouse for doing such an amazing job with all 117 of you last week! And thank you to all of you for supporting her too. We had a wonderful time on our Forest Holidays break. Deerpark is near Liskeard in Cornwall and it is absolutely beautiful. We have also decided we all want a hot tub now!
As you may have noticed, this week’s featured badge belongs to The Life of Ickle Pickle so click on the badge and pop over to their blog to say hi.
It has been another eventful week here in the WWW household. If you would like to read more about our Forest Holidays escapades then nip over to kidGLloves to find out more. On Tuesday I was thrilled to find out that I would be working with the Tots 100 Team behind the scenes – the kind of background employee that no one really knows about but just getting the job done. Suits me down to the ground. The Driving Instruction is still building and, today, I am off to Oxford with Ross on business to film a year end meeting for the company he works with. I may well be quiet after the big tweet out this morning but I will be back on form tomorrow! In among all that I have also written this months Poetry and Prose round-up over on Britmums (6 weeks and counting until Britmums Live….woooohooo!!!).
With the big tweet out in mind, please do let me know if you don’t want to be included in that! I have nearly 200 on the PoCoLo list now and the main reason I do it is to highlight the newbie showcase and give them as much attention as possible.
Last weeks #SoFoLo was Klout and I haven’t done the rounds yet so you will get a double dose of social media attention from me this week as once again #SoFoLo belongs to Kred. This was fairly new to many people last time but if you do need any help then please let me know. Remember – Kred and Klout both count towards your Tots 100 score.
Kred works in a very similar way to Klout. To find out more then please pop over to share your profile and receive some Kred from fellow linkers. Don’t forget our #SoFoLo community too where you can come and post your PoCoLo post for some more +1s and shares as well as any of your social media accounts of yours that need more followers.
If you are a regular here then it would be great if you spread the #PoCoLo word. However, if you are new here then welcome! Post Comment Love is all about sharing posts which you have written this week which just haven’t got the attention they deserve and, with them all in one place, we can help each other share the comment love. This is one of the easiest links EVER. You don’t have a ‘special theme’ to have to write about, the post can be personal, sponsored, a photo, a review, a competition, your own linky, something you’ve linked to a linky….WHATEVER you like – it’s one you’ve already written this week! If you want some publicity and attention, then you are in the right place!
Please make sure you go across and comment on at least two other linkers posts. Linkys work if everyone supports each other 🙂 then spread the #PoCoLo about this link up on Twitter. The post you link up has to have been written in the last week. The link will go up every Friday at 6.30am and close on Sunday evening at 8pm.
I have a list for the Newbie Showcase running into March 2015!! If you would like to be featured then please email me at email@example.com so I can put you on the rota. Remember, your blog needs to be under a year old to feature. I appear to be up to date with everyone – for a change!
This weeks newbie showcase belongs to a blogger who writes about something close to my heart. I have a nephew with a rare chromosome disorder who is only 1 of 3 children to be diagnosed with his condition. Just like my nephew, Elliott, this lady has a son with an undiagnosed genetic condition. She writes a wonderful blog. Please go and say hello.
Hi, I blog over on http://itssmallsworld.wordpress.com/. The blog is – mainly – about life with our little boy, Small, who is nearly 4 and has an undiagnosed genetic syndrome. He is a SWAN. Calling him a swan (which stands for Syndrome Without a Name) is both a lot nicer, and a lot easier, than listing off all the small disabilities that make him, well, Small. Medically he’s quietly been through the mill and come out the other side with no diagnosis. We weren’t ok with that to start with, but now we pretty much are.
It’s a journey this road to acceptance… assimilation… accommodation… and I’ve been helped in no small part due to this blog allowing me to voice my – sometimes quite scared – thoughts about the effect disability can have on lives. I’m sure I’m preaching to the converted when I say that when I started blogging – just over a year ago – I worried about what people would think and whether they would care at all about what I wrote. My first tentative post tried to tell our story, of how we’d reached this point in our lives that we’d never anticipated reaching… and then I just kept on writing!
The blogging community – all these people I’ve not yet met, and the few that I’ve been so glad to meet in person – are just a wonderful, supportive and thoughtful bunch. I’ve been both touched and amazed. Having a child with disabilities can be quite isolating but blogging has made me more confident and enabled me to connect with other parents. Some in the same boat, some not. But all with empathy.
I blog anonymously, so I can’t quite introduce myself properly, but I’ve found anonymity has enabled me to really write freely, without worrying what people I know may think, and it’s enabled me to really connect with other people, so I hope you can understand why I do it. I worry that people will think a blog about disability is miserable. It isn’t. It rails sometimes, against the injustices of the system, but it is always hopeful because Small is a sweet, loving, gentle little boy. And we love him. Unconditionally.
Thank you so much Victoria for letting me be on Newbie Showcase this week, I hope it enables me to connect with a few more of you lovely people!
So, whether you want to #PoCoLo, #SoFoLo or both, please pay our lovely newbie showcase a visit as well as some of the lovely linkers below. Have a great weekend xx
