Prose for Thought – Simplicity

Prose for Thought – Simplicity

Welcome everyone to this week’s Prose for Thought. I have to say a massive thank you to those of you who read and commented on my BiBs poem last week. There were so many words of support and I truly appreciate it. Even if I don’t make the final, I feel completely honoured by those of you who think I am worthy of my place in the shortlist.

As many of you know, I write another blog with Cathie from Wicked World of Lucas called ‘kidGLloves’. It is something that is basically written from our children’s perspectives. Grace generally tells me what to write and then I type it for her.

Last weekend we were lucky enough to go on a Forest Holidays break and we have written a letter of thanks, a post about our Bush Skills and even yesterday’s Mini Creations was dedicated to the camp that we built!

Whilst we were there we had absolutely no phone, wifi or 3G access whatsoever. I have to say that it was wonderful to get away from the internet and technology for a while and, on Monday morning at about 4am, I wrote a poem. To commemorate this amazing occasion!

Simplicity

Simplicity in it’s purest form
Back to me
Back to you
Back to us
Disconnect
From the outside world

Breathe in the scenary
Hear the laughter
The Fun
The Joy
Splash
Like there’s no tomorrow

Learn about the nature
That surrounds you
Understand
What is important
Take away
New Friendships
Long lasting and true

This is what she needed
This is what we needed
A togetherness of memories
Everlasting

Sometimes it’s just nice to forget about technology and just be together isn’t it? Great poem Vic!

This is lovely V. Sounds like you all had a great time and was just what the doctor ordered. Have just finished reading a book by a US blogger Tsh Oxenreider, called Organised Simplicity – basic premise being that we clutter our lives with too many commitments, too much technology and what we all need/want to get back to is the simple things that make us and our families happy. Am totally on board with that.

Oh vicky this is so lovely and perfect for me as I have been feeling oh so overwhelmed lately. Simplicity really is the answer if only I knew how to keep life simple. hahahaha Great prose and thank you so much for hosting.

This is lovely. Really reminds me of the peace of the countryside. I think we do need to have some time away from technology. Sounds like the perfect holiday!

I was watching that social media video that is doing the rounds and thinking much the same. You must have had a lovely time (did you get cold turkey though?!). Speaking as someone who is attached to her iPad I recognise the need to put it down and live the moments…great poem x
