Prose for Thought – A Poem for Mothers Day.

Prose for Thought – A Poem for Mothers Day.

Welcome to this week’s Prose for Thought everyone 🙂 Thank you to all who linked up last week. I read through your wonderful poems and tweeted them all out yesterday.

Thanks to everyone for their lovely comments on my poem last week, I really appreciated all of your support.  Today, I am pleased to say that it is a happy reason to share some poetry!

I don’t think you ever appreciate the job of a Mum until you become one yourself. I continuously think that my Mum is a Saint for having 7 children – goodness only knows how she flipping well coped!! I found it hard enough with one!! With Mothers Day just around the corner, I thought I would share a poem I have put up before but it has not appeared on Prose for Thought. I am certain Mothers everywhere will associate with this!

The Juggle of Modern Motherhood

Keep those balls up in the air
Act as if you just don’t care
I turn up at school with messy hair
That’s the juggle of modern motherhood

On instinct you will have to rely
‘Don’t touch’ will be your battle cry
In the back of your head you need an eye!
That’s the juggle of modern motherhood

Doctor and nurse you will be
Without any education or degree
Repair cut on hand and graze on knee
That’s the juggle of modern motherhood

Become the driver of a taxi cab
To deposit them at their latest fad
The timetable will drive you mad
That’s the juggle of modern motherhood

Another job is that of cook
But don’t bother with the recipe book
Kids can destroy food with just a look
That’s the juggle of modern motherhood

Don’t forget a counsellors listening ear
As they tell you of their worry or fear
And you will want to hold them near
That’s the juggle of modern motherhood

Muuum! is the mantra they will use
It’s the very word on you they abuse
You will wish someone else is in your shoes
That’s the juggle of modern motherhood

Oh, and theres the bedtime fight
When they try hard not to say goodnight
Call you back when you’ve turned out the light!
That’s the juggle of modern motherhood

Days off? What on earth are they?
When you’re sick, they’ll want to play
Hold on..all this AND no PAY?!
That’s the juggle of modern motherhood

But no matter how much they push and shove
It’s hard not to think they were sent from above
For you to hold close, care for and love
I’ll happily juggle modern motherhood

Fantastic poem, so can relate. What a perfect thing to write this week. I haven’t really wrote about mother’s day or done anything special because my USA mother’s day isn’t until May so it feels a little weird to have it coming up on Sunday. But I wish you the best Mother’s Day ever lovely. !!! And congrats again and again you know you have my vote on the MADS. So proud of you! xo

That sums it up rather nicely. But like you say, wouldn’t have it any other way!

Glad to hear things are a lot more settled this week. We all have to be a little more organised with our time as mothers… and I guess that’s the problem… there is never enough! Be kind to yourself! x
