Dress First To Impress

I have to say that one of the things that has made it’s way over here from America over the years, that I do wholeheartedly love, is the Prom. Schools everywhere seem to be having them these days and they are something that I really missed out as they hadn’t quite reached us when I left school (I fear I may be showing my age here!). It was the prom at the end of Pretty In Pink that made me really wish we had them. Any excuse to wear a beautiful dress I suppose!

Since then, whenever I have wanted to go a special occasion, I have made sure I have gone to town on making sure I got ‘the dress’. Any excuse, eh?! Lots of people admired my dress at the MAD Blog awards back in September and, because I am off to the Big Blogger Party, I need to find another perfect dress. So where do I go?

Well, as I’ve said, the American’s know how to do a Prom so what better place to look than a site from America. DressFirst.com have THE most beautiful Prom dresses and looking down the page of their most popular selection, I have come up with my top three should I be in a position to afford one by the time the party comes round in January!

Sheath One-Shoulder Sweep Train Chiffon Tulle Prom Dress With Ruffle Beading (018019001)First up is this stunning off-the-shoulder number. It is in black with ruffle beading on one arm, spreading across the back of the dress and coming around onto the side slit of the dress. One of the reasons I love it is because I believe it would be flattering to any figure. Thankfully I have plenty of accessories to compliment it plus a couple of pairs of heels which would look great!

The second dress is this A-Line, floor length dress. With a design reminiscent of a Greek goddess, I A-Line/Princess Scoop Neck Floor-Length Chiffon Prom Dress With Ruffle Beading (018005069)really love this style and it is a design that I haven’t worn before. I really like the top of the dress with the gold beading and believe that the way the middle is pulled in would help to accentuate your waistline.

Finally, I wanted to choose a dress which wasn’t floor-length so my final option would be this Princess Off-The-Shoulder dress with beading and sequins. I love the lilac and believe this makes the dress really stand-out. A-Line/Princess Off-the-Shoulder Short/Mini Tulle Charmeuse Homecoming Dress With Beading Sequins (018025268)

When January rolls around, and if I am still financially OK(!), then this will certainly be one of the places I search to find inspiration for my next special occasion dress.
