1stFone: First Impressions

When I asked Grace if she would like the opportunity to review her own phone from 1stFone with the chance to keep it, I don’t think I’ve seen her more excited!

A couple of weeks ago we went online in the evening to design the phone and choose the telephone numbers she would be putting on to the phone. The fact that it is restricted to up to 12 numbers and you do not have a numbers keypad is VERY appealing to me as a Mum. It is so easy to design with a step by step process. Your child can select some funky designs such as flowers and skull and cross bones. Grace choose red hearts. She choose four telephone numbers – me, my Mum, Ross and her father.

As the child of parents who are not together, this is an invaluable tool. Whenever she is with one or the other of us, it means she can get hold of the other at the touch of a button. For the purpose of the review we have been given the phone and one months free tariff. After a month we can either choose to pay £7.50 per month for 50 minutes or go on pay as you go.

When the phone arrived – just a DAY after we ordered it! –  Grace was staying at her Granny’s so I took it with me when I went to meet her from school and she was more excited to see the phone than me! Straight away she rang everyone including me – who was sitting across the car from her!

Since she received it, she has used it regularly and I am really impressed with the ease of order, delivery and use.  The only thing I need to monitor is how often she uses it and when – she even rang Ross when we were coming back from the Supermarket the other day to tell him we were coming home – 2 minutes up the road! He was working and understandably wasn’t best pleased!

I think it’s a great item and I did record a video of Grace talking about it, HOWEVER, the sound didn’t come out properly and when I came to re-record one it seems that Grace is more self-aware these days and has refused – for the time being – to have videos done of herself. But, take it from me, she really did wax lyrical about 1stFone. You really should give them a try for yourself.

The lovely people at 1stFone sent us a phone for the trial together with one months worth of free tariff.

This does sound like an excellent and intriguing concept! Looks lovely and simple, what age bracket are they recommended for? 🙂
