It’s funee day with Actually Mummy and we are back! Last week we took a break as Grace was away at her Fathers and Ross and I were rather manic with other things!
It was worth waiting for though, Grace has come out with some corkers these past couple of weeks!
The week before last, Ant and Dec aka PJ and Duncan reclaimed a spot in the charts with their song ‘Lets Get Ready to Rumble’. Their video came on the TV one day over the holidays and Grace shouted ‘Mum, that’s awesome! PJ and Duncan look just like Ant and Dec!’
Last Thursday saw Grace, Ross and I take a road trip to Somerset as we are house hunting. At the very start of the day, Ross and Grace made a bet with each other. £1 to Grace from Ross if she stays awake on the whole journey there and back. £1 to Ross if Grace falls asleep at all during the trip. We left Somerset quite late – around 8.30pm – and I just knew that Grace was going to lose! So, after desperately trying to stay awake, Grace fell asleep. Ross and I were talking at the time and realised that all had gone silent. Ross said that he believed that she may have just lost her bet. Around 10 seconds later, a VERY sleepy voice came from the back of the car ‘Alright Ross, I get the hint. You win’. My heart just melted.
That same day, at dinner that evening, we were having a big conversation about life, family and couples. Grace decided to tell us how it all worked. ‘Well, first you get to be friends, then you get married, then you have children, then they grow up and have children, then you get to be a Granny, then you die from death and then you live happily ever after’.
On Saturday evening we were watching ‘The Hobbit’. When Sylvester McCoy appeared as Radagast with a bird’s nest on his head, I said to Grace ‘Look, he’s got bird poo in his hair’. Grace responded ‘Mum, watch your mouth will ya?!’
Bath time always tends to bring up discussions about bodies and nudity and Sunday was no exception. ‘Mum, did you know?’ asked Grace ‘A little boy’s bits are called nuts and a man’s is called a willy. A little girls bits are called a noo noo, and when you are a lady it’s called a bottom’ Righto then Grace!!
A conversation in the car over the weekend was all about how her and her friend Betty were the most popular girls in the class. She explained to me this was because she was so bendy, was a good singer and had a boyfriend. Betty was also a good singer and had a boyfriend so now they should be able to make a pop group!!
I have to say that Disney’s film ‘Brave’ has a lot to answer for at the moment. Every evening, once Grace has got undressed for bed, she turns round, bends over, lifts up her nightie and says ‘Feast your eyes on this!’
Finally, we were sitting in the garage yesterday afternoon waiting for the MOT to be done on Ross’ car. We started talking about hours and minutes and I started to try and explain it to
her. She responded with ‘Don’t even get me started on this, it’s just too tricky’. Then Grace and I were looking at the Souvenir Edition of The Queens Jubilee in ‘Hello’ Magazine. She said to me ‘If this is the Souvenir Edition then is there an Out takes Edition of all the mess-ups?!’ Someone’s been watching too much You’ve Been Framed! Then – please take a look at the photo of Kate to the right – Grace turns to me on seeing this photo and says ‘Look! She’s singing ‘heeeyyyy sexy lady’! I suppose she sort of looks like she is!
