Having just had half term, I spent more time with Grace than normal, so that meant more opportunities to come out with her funee statements and explanations! I collected just a few of them over the week and list them below. There was also a double chance when my niece joined us for a trip to London Zoo on Friday last week (more of that in another post).
The first was when Ross and Grace were having their standard rough and tumble one day last week. Ross sat on Grace and then jumped off telling her that she was far too uncomfortable. ‘It’s OK’ stated Grace, sticking her arms out, ‘here you go, armrests’!
On Friday we took a trip by train to London Zoo and as it was a chilly day, Grace came armed with her earmuffs. We sat down, and around ten minutes later, Grace noticed a sign above our heads (see right). ‘Look Mum!’ exclaimed Grace ‘no mobile phones and no earmuffs!’
To pass some of the time on the journey, we decided to play the Alphabet Game using animals we would see at the Zoo. There was the usual anteater, bear, cobra and the like. We got to N and Emily’s turn. We could see the smiles on the faces of the people around us as she shouted ‘Nicompoop!’
On Sunday, as I was laying in the bath, Grace decided to come in and have a chat with me. Suddenly, from nowhere, she turned and said ‘Mummy, I wish you and Ross would get married so we can all have the same germs. Oh, and I do love him’.
Finally, as a treat to say goodbye to half term, we decided to venture out for a meal yesterday. Ross didn’t finish his steak and wrapped it up to take it with him. Walking back to the car, Ross and Grace were doing their usual verbal jousting. Ross turned to Grace and said ‘Look’, holding out his steak, ‘I’ve got more meat than you!’, Grace retorted ‘no, I have! My body is more meat than that!’
