Back to School with Start-Rite for Older Kids

As Grace has got older she has become more particular about her sense of style. Gone are the days where I could pick up items of clothing or footwear and just assume she would like them or wear them without questioning me.

Of course, this is a little different in respect of her school clothes. That is apart from her footwear. Even though she is restricted to black she is still particular about the style she wears.

School Shoe Style

When Start-Rite approached us to ask if Grace would like to review a pair of shoes, I showed her the styles they sent and she initially refused saying that the designs were not ones she would wear. I then responded with an explanation giving them details of the styles that she did like. These included slip-on and lace-ups.  They came back to me with a couple of styles and Grace was very taken with the loafers with tassels – something she hadn’t worn for school before.

Start-Rite Shoes

Start-rite have 225 years of experience and expertise. They create quality, durable, stylish-fitted footwear designed especially for children of all ages.

Even at the age of 10, Grace’s feet are continuing to develop so it is important to make sure that they continue to grow healthily and that her shoes fit properly. I was surprised to learn that Start-Rite still catered for children of her age and extremely pleased that they offered a range of styles which, to Grace, aren’t too childish.

Leather and Patent Loafer Pri in Black

A slip-on design, these loafers look great in leather and patent and suit both Grace’s school trousers and her skirts. They have flexible rubber soles for durability and comfort with leather linings to absorb moisture and help keep feet dry. On top of this, they have a padded ankle for comfort and support. They cost £49.99 and can be bought from small size 10 up to an adult size 4. They come in a width of either F or G.

Grace’s Thoughts

Grace has explained that she really likes the loafers. They are stylish and modern and not too old-fashioned or childish. They are so comfortable that it feels like you are not really wearing any shoes at all! All good news if you ask me.

Quality and Style

As a parent, I have peace of mind that these are quality shoes from a trusted brand, coupled with the fact that Grace is wearing sensible footwear when she returns to school in September. All of this without compromising on the style that Grace really wants.

  1. We are a couple of years off school, but already love Startrite and will definitely be looking at them for school shoes in the future. These looks great.

  2. My daughter is 11 and also very particular about what she wears. They develop their own style at this age and it becomes a way for them to convey their independence. These shoes look great. Pretty sure mine would have chosen these too. I had no idea Start-Rite did more grown up shoes and went up to a 4!
