Seedlips, the non-alcoholic gin from 31Dover.com

I cannot remember the last time a drink containing any type of alcohol touched my lips. When we first realised we were having trouble conceiving, I didn’t hesitate in cutting out all forms of it from my diet. Of course, this has meant that for a number of Christmases I have gone without a celebratory glass of something. I have also missed having a long, cool glass of my favourite gin and tonic during the summer months (or, should I say ‘days’?!).

A couple of weeks ago, there were a succession of hot days. This meant, once again that I was missing out. That is until 31Dover.com came to my rescue.

31Dover.com

In case you hadn’t heard of them, 31Dover.com is the UK’s leading online drinks vendor. They stock all the best drinks which include wine, champagne, spirits, craft beer, cider and liqueurs. However, you won’t just seen any old product stocked. Every bottle is personally recommended by their wine experts, as well as being personally tested by the team. They are competitively priced and offer delivery your doorstep the very next day. The concept of 31DOVER.com came about as a result of their offices at 31 Dover Street, London. The business was created by the founders of Vanquish Wine – a central London’s leading drinks distributor to the trade.

A non-alcoholic solution

Of course, there is not much point me working with a company which sells alcohol right now – or so I thought. When 31Dover brought the Seedlips range to my attention, all my ‘missing out’ issues were solved! Seedlips is a range which was created to solve ‘what-to-drink-when-you’re-not-drinking-alcohol’ dilemma. So, whether you are not drinking for weightloss, pregnancy or any other reason, these are a fantastic solution.

The Seedlip Brand

Seedlip is the world’s first distilled non-alcoholic spirits brand and they are on a mission to solve a dilemma for anyone who can’t or doesn’t drink alcohol.Ben Branson is the brand creator and he became frustrated with the amount of sweet, fizzy drinks which were offered as the only alternatives to the teetotal amongst us.

The drink is made in the same way as a gin with botanicals that are distilled in copper pots. Seedlip combines allspice, grapefruit, lemon peel, cardamom, American oak and cascarilla bark to make a fresh, warming drink that is full of flavour but alcohol free.

Not just alcohol-free, Seedlip has the benefit of  being a great choice for anyone who is watching their weight. At just 0.2 calories per 50ml serve, it is also sugar-free, sweetener-free and allergen free.

My thoughts on Seedlip Original Spice

Seedlips claim that this a sophisticated profile with strong clove and citrus top notes and you are advised to sip long with premium tonic and a large citrus slice.

I have to admit that I am not overly keen on tonic so I had mine with lemonade and ice. It is really tasty and it actually did feel like I was drinking an alcoholic spirit. It felt a little more like an autumn and winter drink to me with the spices so this would be a great one around Christmas time if you are not drinking for any reason.

My Thoughts on Seedlip Garden

This bottle is a green and floral blend including peas and hay and the traditional herbs of spearmint, rosemary and thyme. It is put together the same way as the Spice.

To me, this was more reminiscent of being able to make my own cocktail. I love Pimms and Lemonade and this was just like that – but even better! It didn’t have the slightly bitter aftertaste. I tried it a few times with different mixers including elderflower tonic, sparkling raspberry and lemonade – all with ice. This is a fantastic summer drink and, I can safely say, it was my favourite.

Overall the Seedlips range was a big hit with me and, with non-alcoholic drinks this good, I may never go back to alcohol again (although, feel free to ask me the same question when I have a toddler in the house!!).

  1. This is a grown-up drink which is non alcoholic, and has not even had the alcohol removed because it was never there in the first place. Strong tastes of bark and cloves etc., which I like. So cool!
