I cannot remember the last time I had an alcoholic drink. Ever since we have had problems conceiving, I have basically given it up. I decided – with Ross’ support – that I didn’t want anything to affect our chances. Ross also eliminated it for a period of time – and found it also provided him with a positive effect when it came to our IVF procedures.
Of course, once he had done what he had needed to do when we were in Spain, Ross was able to take up drinking again. It hasn’t really bothered me that much. Even though, every so often, I would love a glass of wine or two at the weekend, I certainly don’t miss that woozy feeling the next morning! Plus, it means less calories and less weight (although I have kind of made up for it with chocolate!).
I was recently contacted by SPAR about the launch of two new Proseccos. These are from their own label range and I was asked if I would like to try them. Of course, that is tricky for me right now but it doesn’t mean that I can’t treat Ross.
Their own-label wine brand is increasing it’s range and becoming more and more popular. These Proseccos are both sourced from an award-winning producer in the Veneto region of Italy.
SPAR Extra Dry DOC Prosecco
The Extra Dry DOC is a delicious and affordable treat for everyday celebrations. This is the one which Ross tried at the weekend. He said ‘Rightly described as dry but not to the point of being a difficult drink, immediately refreshing and palatable, pleasantly tangy and fizzy – clean aftertaste and eminently quaffable!’. He would definitely consider buying it in the future. The RRP for this bottle is £9.00.
SPAR Valdobbiadene DOCG Prosecco.
The Valdobbiadene DOCG is the more premium bottle of the two. The introduction of this bottle means it can compete with the very best sparkling wines on the market. The bottle is beautifully presented and, because it is extra special, we have decided to save it to celebrate the safe arrival of our baby – that also means I get a chance to try some! The RRP for this bottle is £12.00.
Edward Evans, SPAR UK Head of BWS, said, “UK Prosecco sales are predicted to increase considerably over the next five years, and it is vital that our customers feel that SPAR can offer them an improved range to satisfy their varying tastes across all price-points.
“We are delighted with the two new additions and look forward to hearing what our shoppers think.”
SPAR Extra Dry DOC Prosecco and SPAR Valdobbiadene DOCG Prosecco are now available in SPAR stores in England, Scotland and Wales.
